This week we are focussing on addition and subtraction.
The children have been taught this back in the Autumn term, so should have completed pages in their Maths No Problem books, therefore this week most work will be done in their exercise books.
Thank you
Things to consider In Maths it is good practice to show your workings.
We want to see which method you have used.
Please don’t feel you have to send us every page of your Maths No Problem book, as we know this takes time.
Use the answers to mark your own work, this is a great way to learn as you can see where you may have made a mistake.
Thank you, Mrs King and Mr Nyczka.
Lesson 1; Adding 1 and 2 digit numbers together
• Lesson Objective: To be able to add a 2-digit number and tens.
• Success Criteria:• I can add a 2-digit number and tens without
regrouping, using any method
What is the best, most efficient method to use?
Notice how the child on the right is adding 20- what do we know about this number?
Method 4 Use a 100 square to count on in 10’s
Start at 19. Remember when we add on 10, we simply go down one on the 100 square.
We need to add 20 so this time we need count 2 down.

Now it’s your turn
Please use your preferred method, if you’re not sure then why not try them all?
