Introduction
Welcome to the Easiteach Maths Content Pack.
This pack has been developed specifically to help your teaching of
Maths in conjunction with the Easiteach Maths tools.
The Easiteach Maths Content comprises 435 ready-made whole
class teaching activities. The activities are provided by RMHeinemann Ginn and Rigby and are linked to leading maths
schemes such as Abacus New Heinemann Maths and Numeracy
Focus. There are also 20 Interactive Teaching Programs developed
by the Department for Education and Skills.
You will need to have a licensed copy of Easiteach Maths installed
to run the content.
The files on the CD ROM can be installed onto your local hard disk
or network. Distribution of the files is not allowed by the licence
agreement. For full licensing details please read the licence
agreement which is installed as licence.rtf in the same folder as the
Easiteach Maths Content files.

Installation
Installing Easiteach Maths ContentNote: Please ensure that no Easiteach or Textease applications
are running before beginning installation.
1. Insert the Easiteach Maths Content CD into your CD ROM
drive. After a short time the installation process will normally start
automatically and load the setup screen. If not click the WindowsStart button and click Run. Type d:\setup.exe (where d: is the
drive letter for your CD ROM drive). Click OK to start the
installation process.
2. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Installing Easiteach Maths on Networks
RM Connect 2.4
To install Easiteach Maths Content onto your network you will need
to create a Connect package. Instructions for making a package
are supplied with your RM Connect network.
We recommend that the Content files are installed on the networkserver so during package creation when running the Easiteach
Maths Content Install you should:
1. Choose Custom when asked to select a setup type.
2. Change the Install location to be:
Even though the files are installed on the server you will still need
to allocate your Easiteach Maths Content Package to any station
that you wish to use Easiteach Maths Content on. Note that there
are no shortcuts for Easiteach Maths Content it is accessed from
menu items within the Easiteach Maths application.

Community Connect 3
To install Easiteach Maths Content onto your network you will need
to create a Connect package. Instructions for making a package
are supplied with your RM Connect network. Instead of creating the
necessary Connect package yourself you can purchase a
Community Connect 3 installation CD. The CD is easy to use and
will save you time.
Other ClientServer networks
To install Easiteach Maths Content onto other networks please
consult the documentation supplied with your network. It is
recommended that you install Easiteach Maths Content onto each
client station.

Easiteach Maths Content
Content Pack Index
To access the extensive range of Lesson Activities follow the steps
below.
1. Run Easiteach as normal from the desktop shortcut or via the
Start Menu.
2. Click on File > Open > Maths.
3. Now open the Content Index file that applies to your
curriculum. You can choose an index for either the National
Numeracy Framework or the Scottish 5-14 Guidelines.
The index pages provide a structured way to navigate around
nearly 500 activities. The index shown here is for the Scottish 5-14
Guidelines.

Once you have opened an index you can choose to view eitherMental Starters Main Activities or the Interactive Teaching
Programs from the Department for Education and Skills.
The Interactive Teaching Programs index shows 20 activities
available for free at
www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/numeracy/publications from the
Department for Education and Skills. They are included here as
Easibooks. Each link will display the Easibook.

The Mental Starters index arranges 149 mental starters into sevenyear groups. In the National Numeracy Framework index these
year groups are Reception to year 6 in the Scottish 5-14
Guidelines index these are Primary 1 to Primary 7.
Within each year group
there are between three
and five strands. These
strands are aligned with
the National Numeracy
Framework strands or
Scottish 5-14 Guidelines
for Maths strands as
appropriate. Thisscreenshot is taken from

These strand names are
links to pages that show
the list of activities in each
strand. Each activity name
is a link to that Easibook
(with Teaching Notes for
each activity on the last
page of the Easibook). This

Lesson ActivitiesEach of the 287 main activities and 149 mental starters in the
Easiteach Maths Content Pack contains screens to be used in
whole-class teaching and guided group work by the teacher.
The Teaching Notes at the end of each Easibook have full
referencing to the National Numeracy Framework and Scottish 5-
14 Guidelines for Maths. They guide the teacher through the
delivery of the lesson with educational information and step by
step guidance on how to use each screen.
There is also a key vocabulary section and ideas on how to
extend the activity as well as tips on getting the best out of the
plenary session.

These activities are designed to provide ready-made lessons forclassroom use and may be adapted by teachers to meet the
particular needs of their pupils.
The lessons are a starting point for teachers using Easiteach Maths
