DESCRIPTION
Selected projects of my work while attending Texas Tech University in pursuit of a degree in Landscape ArchitectureTRANSCRIPT
Friona, Texas
This project revitalizes a large open space that the citizens of friona want to see transformed into a space that families can take theird kids, and provides new recreational activity. The space will also serve as home to the annual cheeseburger festival in which attracts thousands of tourists for one week each year.
Some of the concerns that the town officials expressed were ooding, RV accessibility, and light pollution.
Site Plan
landscape Turn-a-round
These photos were taken while on a site visit. The location which was once a a beatiful lake, had fallen victim to the drough of 2010. To pre-vent future ooding, I proposed that the lake be excavated deeper, and a pump system be installed to allow for irrigation. The excess soil will be rel will be relocated throughout the site in order to create elevation changes for aesthetic purpose, and buffering.
The town was very interested in my proposal of a mini golf course. It would provide jobs, and serve the cause for pulling people to the site. The front entrance of the course is seen in the elevation below.
