1. Jesus Went to Galilee after the Arrest of John the Baptist.



“When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to

Galilee” (Matthew 4:12).

2. The Call of Four Disciples.


“As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. "Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men.“ At once they left their nets


and followed him. Going on from there, he saw two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat with their father Zebedee, preparing their nets. Jesus called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.” (Matthew 4:18-22 NIV)


Note: The disciples did not choose their Master, but it was the Master who chose His disciples.


3. Jesus Healed, Preached and Taught in Galilee.

“Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues,

preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease

and sickness among the people. News about him spread all over Syria, and

people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases,



those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having

seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them. Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea and the region across the

Jordan followed him.” (Matthew 4:23-25 NIV)


Conclusions:

1. All Three Sections of Scripture in Matthew 4:12-25 Have a Galilean Connection.

“Then Peter began to speak: "I now realize how true it is that God does

not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear

him and do what is right. You know the message God sent to the people

of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is



is Lord of all. You know what has happened throughout Judea,

beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached— how God

anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he

went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of


the devil, because God was with him. "We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in

Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a tree.”

(Acts 10:34-39)

When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down

from the tree and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead, and

for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses

to our people.” (Acts 13:29-31 NIV)
