Dear Parents, Friends and Students

Last Friday was a very special day as we celebrated our

that was celebrated by Father Francis and assisted by

YEAR 2 NEWS

I am so proud of the Year 1 and Year 2 class

performance on Matthew Gibney Day. The children did an

amazing job and are to be congratulated!

This week the children have been sharing their Toys

homework activity during news time. We have found out

lots of interesting information about how toys have

changed over the years.

A reminder that excursion notes for our upcoming

excursion to Kings Park are due back to school tomorrow.

We are looking forward to our assembly tomorrow

morning in the undercover area at 9am. The children

have been asked to wear a t-shirt with shorts/pants or a

skirt and their sport shoes. The children will need to bring

their school representative shirt and sport shorts to

change into after the assembly.

PRE-PRIMARY NEWS Last Friday, we celebrated Matthew Gibney Day at our

school and the Pre-Primary class took part in all the

celebrations! After attending mass, we all received a

delicious birthday cup cake and then took part in the

‘whole school’ tabloid sports events. After lunch, we

presented a percussion item for the concert at the

Grandparents afternoon tea. The Pre-Primary children

were, once again, ’super stars’ on stage and thoroughly

enjoyed all the celebrations that day. This Thursday, we

will be attending Mass at the church to celebrate ‘All

Saints Day’. Meanwhile, the Pre-Primary children are

practising for their ‘EduDance Concert’ which takes place

in Week 8. These lessons take place every Wednesday

morning and they are progressing very well with their

dance. A letter was sent home last week requesting a

yellow or red T-shirt for the EduDance concert. We would

be grateful if these shirts could be sent to school a.s.a.p.

We have also been working very hard in the classroom

with our reading, sentence writing and learning how to tell

the time. We are also learning how to use money to pay

for our shopping, in our own Pre-Primary shop! Keep up

the great work Pre-Primary!

YEAR 5 NEWS

A big thank you to all of Year 5 for their wonderful efforts

and participation in our Matthew Gibney Day

presentation, last Friday. We were super proud of them

and they were a credit to our school. Inspired by Matthew

Gibney, we have been exploring this week, leadership,

and what it means to us. We have also been looking into

how humans change the environment. The Year 5's did a

great job of reading information on the new Perth Airport

Runway, and then coming up with pros and cons on its

impact on our local and state environment. They found

that the runway was shortened and slightly relocated, to

make sure that the Munday Swamp area was not

impacted heavily; but there would be increased air and

noise pollution. We also found out that Grogan Rd would

be closed, which did affect some students and parents, as

this was a road they used frequently. Keep up the terrific

work Year 5.

MATTHEW GIBNEY DAY THANK YOU!

Thank you so much to all the people who came along

and assisted with our Matthew Gibney day celebrations

last Friday. The day was a resounding success and

could never have happened without the help of our

amazing volunteers. Also a huge thank you to the Year 6

students who showed wonderful listening, serving and

community spirit with their help in serving the food and

drinks. We very much appreciate the support of the

school community and congratulate everyone on a

fantastic day!
