On the 20th of April 2020, MATW Project launched our Annual Ramadan Campaign in order to raise funds to feed and support impoverished communities in Togo and Burkina Faso in West Africa and Lebanon. These locations present a significant need for assistance and resources as they face ongoing, extreme poverty, even more so under Covid-19 restrictions. The funds raised were used to source and produce food packs and meals which were distributed in various locations such as Kpoga, Tsevie, Zooti, Kara, Depango, Anye, Zongo and other remote villages in Togo and Burkina Faso, West Africa, as well as Tripoli, Lebanon.

The main objective of our Ramadan Food Distribution Project was to provide poverty-stricken villagers and refugees in parts of West Africa and Lebanon with access to much needed food supplies during the month of Ramadan (fasting).

The main objective of our Ramadan Food Distribution Project was to provide poverty-stricken villagers and refugees in parts of West Africa (Togo, Burkina Faso) and in Tripoli, Lebanon (Bad Ar-Raml, Bahsas to Manar, Zahriye, Ebbeh, Rass Al Sakher, Khanak and Abu Samra) with access to much needed food supplies during the month of Ramadan (fasting).

The project was initiated in order to prevent thousands of fasting and poverty-stricken villagers from facing extreme poverty throughout the entire month without enough to sustain themselves, especially under increased risks associated with Covid-19 and imposed restrictions.

In light of this, MATW Project’s annual Ramadan food distribution program was launched on the 20th of April 2020. The purpose of this project aligns directly in accordance with the vision and mission of MATW Project to provide aid and assistance to impoverished communities in Africa and around the world.

Our Annual Ramadan Project 2020 was successfully concluded with over 4.2million beneficiaries receiving support and assistance as a result

PROJECT FUNDRAISING METHODOLOGIES

Regular posts on social media via Facebook and Instagram were used to raise funds for our 2020 Ramadan Projects. These included actual footage of the preparation and distribution of the food program on the ground in Africa and Lebanon.

On the 15th of May 2020, MATW Project’s 2nd Annual Ramadan Live Fundraiser was broadcasted online to various locations all over the world. The 3-hour long broadcast saw over $250,000 AUD raised for various MATW projects collectively.

Flyers advertising our food distribution program and projects were distributed in Sydney and Melbourne throughout the month. Given that the project was launched during

the month of Ramadan, the local Muslim community were naturally inclined to donate to charitable projects, and many relied on MATW Project to utilise their donations effectively and efficiently in support of those most in need.

During the month of Ramadan, funds were raised at various local business locations in and around Sydney where donors were able to donate at their convenience when purchasing essential items under Covid-19 restrictions.
