International IMPAC DublinLiterary Award
The Award was established in 1994 as a joint initiative of Dublin City Council and the American productivity company IMPAC, which had its European headquarters in Dublin. James Irwin, president of IMPAC established the prize money at €100,000. A trust fund was established to pay for the award and its maintenance. In 1994, IMPAC and the City of Dublin, Ireland became the co-sponsors of the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. It has become one of the world's most prestigious awards.

Association of ProductivitySpecialist (APS)
IMPAC is a founding member of the Association of Productivity Special-ists (APS), with Mr. Irwin having served as its first Chairman of the Board. APS has three missions: - The certification of productivity specialists- Education and training of productivity specialists- Serving as an advocate group to ensure that productivity specialists are not overly regulated by government, thereby impairing their ability to serve their clients. For further details, please investigate the web site at www.a-p-s.org
C
History OfThe Organization of IMPAC®
The history of the IMPAC® organization begins in 1954 with the incorporation of Integrated Control Systems. It was in 1972, under the direction of James B. Irwin, Sr. that the company moved into new corporate headquarters in Litchfield, Connecticut, USA. At this time, the company’s strategy was enhanced and expanded to include the implementation of management control systems that allow our clients to improve their productivity, their profitability and to achieve significant savings. It was at this time (1972) that the term IMPAC came into use. It had not been used previously.
In 1974, IMPAC Control System of Canada, Ltd. was formed with an office in Montreal, later moving to Toronto in 1977. The IMPAC acronym was modified with the addition of management training to Improved Management Productivity and Control. IMPAC Canada came full circle in 1991 with the reopening of the Montreal office to better serve our Quebec clients.
In 1976, IMPAC of Puerto Rico was formed, followed by IMPAC Ltd. in 1979 in Ireland. As Integrated Control System, Inc. was already serving Irish divisions of American corpora-tions, this was a logical entry into Europe. With this foothold established, expansion throughout the Continent began. IMPAC Europe, by 1984, had grown so large that it was split into two divisions with additional offices and licensees.
The development of business in the Asian countries began in 1986. Offices were opened in Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. IMPAC entered the Vietnamese market in 2006.

IMPAC’S PURPOSEImprove management productivity and control for organizations throughout the world.
IMPAC’S TENETS • We will only accept an assignment we can implement.
• We will only implement a program we can guarantee.
• We will only use tried and tested technologies.
IMPAC’S VALUES
INTEGRITY
Consistency in word and deed. Saying and doing what is right – legally and
ethically.
LOYALTYThere’s a covenant of mutual
trust among all stakeholders. This trust assumes that all stakeholders
will be acting in such a manner that is faithful to one another
and the mission of IMPAC.
PROFESSIONALISMThe demonstration of high quality standards through
disciplined adherence to our business principles and
ethical values.
CREATIVITYSeek, develop, and implement innovative applications of our
established operating processes and tenets in order to maximize the benefits for all stakeholders. Foster an environ-
ment for new ideas, thoughts and openness without jeopardizing the quality or integrity of established company procedures until new
ones are proven and tested.
LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK
Motivate groups through a vision that inspires clear and compelling goals.
Capitalize on each person’s (employee and contractor) strengths and provide coaching, guidance, support, and mentoring. Ensure
clarity of intent to fulfill stakeholders’ expectations through strong commit-
ment to the agreed-upon goals and a feeling of mutual
accountability.
COMMITMENT TO CONTINUOUS IMPROVE-
MENT AND CHANGE We accept that improvement of any
situation is always possible. We encourage the development of new ideas, philosophies, and concepts. We implement when proven
to be beneficial and aligned with our Purpose, Vision, Values, Mission and
Tenets.
WHO WE ARE WHAT WE DO
IMPAC® analyzes existing practices, then designs and installs the necessary improvements based upon IMPAC® productivity principles.
IMPAC® uses an integrated approach to supervisory management and point of execution control. IMPAC program implementation involves operational systems analyses, enhancements and augmentations. It employs proven and successful behavior and skills training interventions. In most cases, IMPAC® can guarantee results without capital expenditures!
Often, existing systems are not fully utilized by supervision and middle-level management.
Solutions to these problems are not to be found in software applications or expensive data-based systems. Although technical software or data-based solutions often appear to be the simple, easy answer, most of the time those solutions only serve to relieve mid-management of the responsibility of actually doing what they are paid to do. Data-based systems and software solutions involve not only expensive design costs but are also extremely expensive to maintain. In addition, and in most cases, data-based and/or software solutions take years to install and make operational and may never work at all.
IMPAC® focuses on making solutions happen at the point of execution! IMPAC® finds out why productivity isn’t as high as it should be and corrects the issues where they count most.
Very often the answer lies in line-level managers and supervisors using ineffective management practices. Very often, those line-managers are great technicians. but lack the skills to be effective managers of people.
This is a universal problem. IMPAC® licensees work, around the world, in over 60 different countries, assisting companies and organizations creating “point of execution” solutions and offering guaranteed results.
7
Clients in over 60 countries across North America, Europe, and Asia, utilize IMPAC® Systems to provide hands-on implementation of significant cost reduction / productivity improvement efforts. Unlike the “fad surfing” approach of running from one so called management solution to another, IMPAC® provides a proven, time-tested implementation process with a firm track record of success in virtually every industry and sector of public life.
As one client of IMPAC put it, “Over the last 10 years we have been bombarded by a never ending parade of relabeled old ideas, all of which seem to avoid the issue of management accountability and supervisory performance. I am tired of waiting for gimmicks and data based programs to somehow produce the miracle of a motivated, productive work force. That’s why I went with IMPAC!”
Hope is not a strategy! More and more CEO’s are turning to IMPAC solutions for real, measurable results
- Return on Investment in excess of 250 % within one year after completion of the project- Recovery of the investment in excess of 70 % at the time of completion of the project- Guaranteed return of 100 % of the investment- Full implementation of IMPAC® System of Management
Typically, when an IMPAC customer is interested inimproving Profitability through better Productivity, the following steps will be required:
Phase I: Analysis - a two to three week operationalanalysis and business review of the customer organization.
Phase II:Project - a 6 to 9 month implementationperiod within customer organization.
Phase III:Continuous Improvement - optional follow - up period that usually continues for one or more years.
As you can see, the progress is rather quick in terms of calendar time. The expedient progression of change is required as customers typically wish to see results quickly. In fact IMPAC offers its customer impressive results within a very short time :
IMPAC® PROJECT UNIQUE APPROACH
IMPAC® Specialists are not consultants, they are trained “implementers” of line-level management skills and systems.
Implementation of IMPAC® systems is done at the supervisory and mid management level, not in the Boardroom! IMPAC® specialists receive extensive university level training not only in systems but in front line management skills and human behavior. This allows them to “get done,” not write thick reports in leather bound books that no one reads… It is all about “making it happen!” and “making it happen NOW!”
Only assignments involving implementation are accepted
The evolution of a system of management at the “point of execution” is a process, not a fixed formula. Not every manager advances at the same rate, not every supervisor accepts change immediately. It takes time and the involvement of IMPAC Specialists to act as the change agents, coaches and mentors as well as the designers of the systems of management. If it could have been internally, it would already have been. Very often, it takes an objective third party, trained and skilled in management change, to overcome the internal inertia of “it won’t work here.”
A “100% GUARANTEE MONEY BACK” of performance is issued with each as signment.
After an extensive analysis by the IMPAC® team, the Chief Analyst will determine the savings potential for the client and the guarantee associ-ated with those savings. Since implementation is a part of every assignment, a guarantee of perfor-mance is a practical way of assuring the client ofresults.
Only tested and proven technology is employed in the implementation of IMPAC® SystemsMillions, perhaps billions, have been spent on programs that don’t work, have been abandoned or are years behind in implementation. One leading business publication calls it “fad surfing” by management – searching for the “magic bullet” that will take them on the easy road to effortless management and great profits. Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet and there is no easy road. There is no “ice cream and beer” diet plan that is going to cut your operat-ing costs by 20% to 30%. There is a lot of hard work, reexamination of operating procedures, changing paradigms, training and, yes, some failing and revival in the process. But that process used by IMPAC® is a time-tested, proven and effective way of managing assets to realize their fullest potential.
IMPAC® does not charge for the initial analysis if clients go ahead with IMPAC® project.
The IMPAC® analysis takes 2 -3 calendar weeks to complete. We will temporarily charge the analysis fee, but if you decide to buy the IMPAC project, the total analysis fees will be refunded / deducted progressively on each weekly invoice of project.
Savings to IMPAC® Clients usually reach 250% of their investment within one year of completion of the project.
Actual reported average savings range from 200% to 300 % as mentioned in client reference letters and testimonial videos.
1
4 5
Projects deliver at least a 70% return during implementation alone.
Depending upon the results of the analysis, recovery of 70% to 100% of cost during the project phase is not unusual. In most cases, savings begin in the first quarter of the project and continue throughout. Savings are measur-able and tangible, based on a mutually agreed formula.
7
All IMPAC® Specialists participate in continuing education programs from IMPAC training center.
All IMPAC® specialists are involved in distance learning programs throughout their careers.
8
Extensive follow up, training of client personnel and on-site visits are conducted to assure perpetuation of installed programs.
All IMPAC installations involve detailed training of client supervision and management, the selection of at least one client-employed IMPAC® Coordinator and the establishment of an online real-time communications link with optional quarterly follow-up following complete installation of the program.

Through the above, management's and supervision's understanding of their areas is improved, along with awareness of quality requirements. Weaknesses are highlighted and the concepts required to correct the situation are defined.
At this stage, management and supervision (and staff affecting quality) are familiar with the new concepts and how to use both system and training to identify and correct operating and quality problems. They are prepared for the INSTALLATION phase.
Following installation, the identification of benefits will motivate the continued development of the IMPAC Implementation Program. Correct use of the system by management starts to produce measurable improvement.
Your people achieve continuous improvement through the "IMPAC" system.Further development of the program promotes (and responds to) changes and growth in the organization after full implementation
Establishment of detailed objectives of systems, modifications required and preparation for Installation.
