8100/8200 Maximum Exposure Level Adjustment

Purpose The purpose of this Service Bulletin is to provide guidelines for reducing the Maximum Exposure Level for Kodak DryView 8100/8200 LASER IMAGERS.

An 8100/8200 OPTICS DIAGNOSTIC TEST KIT (SP8E9761) was released 2 September 2003. All IMAGERS with serial numbers below SN 8106319 (8100) and SN 8201076 (8200) should be tested unless a new OPTICS MODULE (SN 008901 and above) was installed after March 2003.

Since release of the TEST KIT, an 8100/8200 Maximum Exposure Level Adjustment (an interim temporary fix) has been created to be used if:

• The Optics Diagnostic Test fails (EC 515 Failed Calibration), and • A new OPTICS MODULE is not available

Maximum Exposure Level Adjustment The Maximum Exposure Level Adjustment is a temporary fix that allows the IMAGER to continue operating after failing the Optics Diagnostic Test and receiving a “P515 Failed Calibration”. The Maximum Exposure Level Adjustment can be left in the IMAGER until an OPTICS MODULE becomes available. Replacement of the OPTICS MODULE can be delayed as long as the IMAGER continues to print to the specified 3.1 Dmax setting.

The Maximum Exposure Level Adjustment is performed only if the OPTICS MODULE does not pass the Optics Diagnostic Test. Refer to the following procedures and Figure 1.

the next call. After installing the new OPTICS MODULE, change the Maximum Exposure Level back to 3300. Go to Step 10.

9. Use Telnet to change the Maximum Exposure Level back to 3300. Replace the OPTICS MODULE.

10. Record the Customer Name, Location, 8100/8200 IMAGER Serial Number, OPTICS MODULE Serial Number, and indicate if Maximum Exposure Level is set at 3150 or 3300. Include the MSC Log before and after calibration failure.
