Being a parent comes with a lot of responsibilities, cleaning the house, cooking meals, washing clothes, we could go on forever. But as the time goes on and the responsibilities get bigger you might think that you aren’t spending as much time with your children as you would like to be. Although these jobs are important you still need to spend as much time with your children as you can, and make plenty of memorial moments. Once your baby is born it is so important that you are spending a lot of your time with them, you need to get used to being around your baby and your baby needs to get used to you. From a young age, they will figure out who their parents are so it is important that they are getting the attention that they need. Let’s discuss a few ways that you can maximise your time with your baby during the holidays.

Make a Plan

Each week or even each day work out what tasks you have got to complete and how long it is going to take you. Be hard on yourself, if you think you can get away with not doing the shopping straight away then don’t do it! It is important not to do the same old jobs that don’t need doing and you are only doing them because of a routine. It is good to change routines sometimes. Also, delegate! If you have a job that needs doing but someone else could do it, maybe a family member or a friend then don’t be afraid to ask them for their help, you can always return the favour!

Day Out

If your children are in school or college then you will know that they have a lot of school holidays throughout the year.

Even though it is expensive to go out every day of the holidays you should have the odd day out so you can spend some quality time with your children and do something different that you don’t normally do. If you have more than one child in your house, then it is a good idea to create a chart leading up to the holidays and let them all choose an activity or place that they would like to go so you can make sure that they all get a turn in doing something that they want to do.

Involve Your Children

If you find that on a day to day basis you are doing a lot of household chores, then you might feel like this is causing you to not spend as much time with your children as what you would like to. However, to prevent this from happening you could include your children into the household jobs. If you have older children then let them do some of the jobs for example, washing up. If your children are of a very young age, then you could let them fold away the clothes and even dry up the pots if you have someone else there to assist them. Not only is this helping you out but it is also a learning curve for your children so they are prepared for the years to come.

Online Shopping

If you are the type of person that loves to do some retail therapy then you might find it particularly difficult to go shopping with children, especially young children. Going shopping with children can make your shopping trip considerably longer and can cause stress upon yourself but also your children as they might be getting frustrated having to walk around a shop. A great way to solve this stressful situation is online shopping, which has become more and more popular as technology has developed.

Doing your shopping online means you don’t have to pay out for a babysitter and you can allow your children to be in their own home doing what they want to do instead of being dragged around a shop.

So, we have discussed only a few ways that you can maximise the time you spend with your children. It is very important that you implement these things in your home to make sure you are getting the best out of the time with your children. Time flies and before you know it your children won’t be children anymore and will be moving out into their own home. So, make sure that they have plenty of memories to bring with them and to pass onto their children.
