Dear fellow St. Norbert Parishioners,

Happy Easter! Know of my con nued prayers for each of you and gra tude for your con nued faithfulness and support of our community of faith. For those of you who did not have an opportunity to view the live-streamed Easter Vigil Mass from St. Norbert, it is available on our new YouTube channel. All of our Masses are currently being live streamed on Facebook and a erwards loaded up to our YouTube channel. You can find the links on our parish website www.stnorbertchurch.org.

What does this mean for our parish in light of the governor’s Statewide Health Order, which as of this wri ng is in effect un l May 15? The doors of our church will, sadly, remain closed, as will access to adora on of the Blessed Sacrament.

Staying at home has not been easy but it seems to be working here in Orange County. We have lowered the curve and con nue to do so. I wish to thank everyone, too, for con nuing to financially support St. Norbert’s. There has been a strong increase in electronic giving, which has helped tremendously but with the decrease in dona ons it was necessary to furlough most of the parish staff. It is my hope that I will be able to have staff return once the order is li ed.

What should we plan on when the order is li ed? The governor stated that he foresees relaxing the stay-at-home order gradually—a dimmer switch, which can be adjusted as needed rather than turning the switch back on. He gave examples such as fewer tables in restaurants, staggered start mes for school students, face coverings commonly used, and temperature checks before entering establishments.

When the church does reopen there will be a need to follow social distancing measures too. We will be allowed to pray together once again but just farther apart. I am currently developing a sea ng arrangement on how this might work in the church. I will provide you with further details once the plan is developed. This will probably be our “new normal” for a while.

St. Norbert will con nue to provide “Livestream” Masses once the order is li ed. Deacon Rick Purpura and I are working on a more permanent type of system to use in the church so we can con nue to stream the Mass. I will need your help. If you have any interest helping with our new Livestreaming Ministry please let me know. We will need volunteers to run the computer during our Masses. Don’t worry, we will train you.

I will also be working with the Bishop’s office on scheduling a new date for Confirma on with social distancing procedures in place. I’m not sure what this will look like or where we will celebrate it, but we will! I look forward to it!

The same will apply to First Communions and those in the RCIA process. We will celebrate them together and hopefully some me soon!

What about weddings and funerals? These will be allowed to resume when the order is li ed, but with the social distancing in place. I have spoken with several couples who currently have weddings scheduled. Several have decided to postpone their date to later in the year or even later. Families have also decided to postpone memorial services in light of the social distancing restric ons and simply have an internment at the cemetery. I look forward to celebra ng memorial Masses for those who were not able.

Let us all con nue to reach out to each other and check in with each other and, most importantly, to pray for each other.

Mother’s Day Novena A Novena of Masses will be offered for all mothers, living and deceased, beginning on Mother's Day, May 10. This is a wonderful way to show our love for our mothers.

Due to the closure of the church during the coronavirus pandemic, novena cards will be available on a table outside the church.

Vacation Bible School Update Along with all parish ac vi es, Vaca on Bible School 2020 is on hold un l we have enough guidance from the authori es regarding social distancing and quaran ne protocol to proceed. With schools closed through the end of the academic year and public Masses suspended indefinitely, it seems unlikely that we will be able to hold VBS in June as originally planned.

The VBS team is brainstorming op ons for a modified program that will serve our community once quaran ne measures are li ed. Now more than ever, we all need reminders of how Jesus' power pulls us through! ····················································

¡Felices Pascuas! Mis constantes oraciones por cada uno de ustedes y mi gra tud por su con nua fidelidad y apoyo a nuestra comunidad de fe. Para aquellos de ustedes que no tuvieron la oportunidad de ver la Misa de la Vigilia Pascual transmi da en vivo desde San Norberto, está disponible en nuestro nuevo canal de YouTube. Actualmente, todas nuestras misas se transmiten en vivo en Facebook y luego se suben a nuestro canal de YouTube. Pueden encontrar los enlaces en el si o en Internet de nuestra parroquia en: www.stnorbertchurch.org.

¿Qué significa esto para nuestra parroquia a la luz de la Orden de Salud del Gobernador del Estado, que al momento de este escrito está vigente hasta el 15 de mayo? Tristemente, las puertas de nuestra iglesia permanecerán cerradas, al igual que el acceso a la adoración del San simo Sacramento.

Quedarse en casa no ha sido fácil, pero parece estar funcionando aquí en el Condado de Orange. Hemos bajado la curva y seguimos haciéndolo. También quiero agradecer a todos por con nuar apoyando económicamente a San Norberto. Ha habido un fuerte aumento en las donaciones electrónicas lo cual ha ayudado enormemente, pero con la caída de las donaciones fue necesario suspender a la mayoría del personal de la parroquia. Espero poder hacer que el personal regrese una vez que se levante la orden.

¿Qué debemos planear cuando se levanta la orden? El gobernador declaró que prevé que el levantamiento de la orden de quedarse en casa se produzca gradualmente—algo así como un regulador de luz, que se puede ajustar según sea necesario en lugar de volver a encender el interruptor. El gobernador dio ejemplos como menos mesas en los restaurantes, horarios de inicio escalonados para las escuelas, cubre bocas en la cara de uso común y toma de temperatura antes de ingresar a los establecimientos.

Cuando la iglesia vuelva a abrir, también será necesario seguir las medidas de distanciamiento social. Se nos permi rá rezar juntos una vez más, pero de más lejos. Actualmente estoy desarrollando una disposición de asientos sobre cómo podría funcionar esto en la iglesia. Les proporcionaré más detalles una vez que se desarrolle el plan. Esto será probablemente nuestra “nueva normalidad” por un empo. San Norberto con nuará ofreciendo misas de “transmisión en vivo” una vez que se levante la orden. El diácono Rick Purpura y yo estamos trabajando en un po de sistema más permanente para usar en la iglesia para que podamos con nuar transmi endo la misa. Necesitaré su ayuda. Si están interesados en ayudar con nuestro nuevo ministerio de transmisión en vivo, háganmelo saber. Necesitaremos voluntarios para estar a cargo de la computadora durante nuestras misas. No se preocupen, les entrenaremos.

También trabajaré con la oficina del obispo para programar una nueva fecha para las Confirmaciones con procedimientos establecidos de distanciamiento social. No estoy seguro de cómo o donde las celebraremos, ¡pero lo haremos! Lo mismo se aplicará a las Primeras Comuniones y aquellos en el proceso de RICA. ¡Las celebraremos juntos y con suerte será pronto!

¿Qué pasará con las bodas y funerales? Se permi rá que se reanuden cuando se levante la orden, pero con el debido distanciamiento social. He hablado con varias parejas que actualmente enen bodas programadas. Varios han decidido posponer la fecha para más adelante en el año o incluso más tarde. Las familias también han decidido posponer los servicios funerarios a la luz de las restricciones de distanciamiento social y simplemente tener el en erro en el cementerio. Espero celebrar misas de exequias para aquellos que no pudieron tenerlas.

Sigamos manteniéndonos en contacto y estando al tanto unos de otros y, lo más importante, rezar los unos por los otros.

Dios amoroso, como una madre da vida y alimento a sus hijos, así tú cuidas de tu Iglesia. Bendice a estas mujeres, qué puedan ser fortalecidas como madres cris anas. Que el ejemplo de su fe y amor resplandezca. Concede que nosotros, sus hijos e hijas, podamos honrarlas siempre con un espíritu de profundo respeto. Te lo pedimos por Cristo nuestro Señor. Amén.

Novena por el Día de las Madres Una Novena de Misas será ofrecida por todas las madres, vivas y fallecidas, comenzando el Día de las Madres, 10 de mayo. Esta es una hermosa forma de mostrar nuestro amor por nuestras madres.

Debido a que la iglesia está cerrada a causa de la pandemia del coronavirus, las tarjetas para la novena estarán disponibles en una mesa afuera de la iglesia.

6 MINISTERIO HISPANO

Padres de Familia del Programa de Formación en la Fe Esperamos que en este empo tan especial que nos está tocando vivir, todas las familias estemos poniendo en prác ca la invitación que nos hizo el padre Eduardo el primer miércoles de las Misiones Cuaresmales de rezar un misterio del santo rosario todos los días, leer las sagradas escrituras y hacer un cambio de corazón y de vida.

Dios nos está dando el empo de poder hacerlo, pero ¿cómo? Siendo padres y maestros: ayudando a sus hijos a hacer sus tareas escolares. Siendo padres y catequistas: enseñando a sus hijos de su libro de catequesis, con

la ayuda de su catequista vía telefónica, así como prac cando con ellos lo que han aprendido. Este método es como dicen los teólogos regresar a las “Fuentes”, Sagradas Escrituras, Documentos de la Iglesia, y Catecismo de la Iglesia Católica. Estos documentos nos dicen que los primeros catequistas son los padres de familia y que conforman la iglesia domés ca, y que cada familia es la base de la sociedad.

Así que felicitamos a cada uno de ustedes, porque todos estamos creciendo en sabiduría y en paciencia. 

Recordemos familia que reza unida “permanence unida”, “comunidad que reza unida permanence unida”.

Aviso a los Papás de Primera Comunión Padres de familia cuyos niños están en el año de Primera Comunión, como lo mencionamos anteriormente, les informamos que por el momento no tenemos fecha de cuando se llevarán a cabo las Primeras Comuniones.

Con nuemos en oración y prac quemos las medidas precautorias que nos indican y esperemos no cias de las oficinas diocesanas y de la iglesia que están trabajando en el cuidado de cada uno de nosotros, para que juntos, volvamos a vernos pronto.

Becas Guadalupanas El Comité Hispano de nuestra parroquia de San Norberto, informa a todos los jóvenes que saldrán este año 2020 de la escuela preparatoria (high school), que lamentablemente no tendremos la entrega de las cinco becas que se otorgan cada año. Debido a la cuarentena que estamos viviendo, muchas personas están desempleadas y no podrán apoyarnos en la compra de boletos para la cena baile. Por consiguiente, no tendremos nuestra recaudación de fondos que apoya dicho proyecto.

Confiando en Dios que el próximo año podamos brindar nuevamente apoyo a los jóvenes que con núen su educación a nivel superior.
