The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program is designed to raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana and increase aware-ness of the potential of Indiana's community foundations to improve the quality of life of the state's residents. Begun in 1998, the program offers four-year, full-tuition scholarships to Indiana students who intend to work toward a baccalaureate degree at any accredited public or private college or university in Indiana. The scholarship also provides $900 per year for required books and equipment.

The final Teacher of the Month at Rockville High School for the 2013-2014 school year has been named as Mrs. Laura Reberger. Mrs. Reberger and her husband, our band teacher Kevin Reberger, comprise the only husband-wife combo faculty members currently working at RHS. Mrs. Reberger currently teaches 8th Grade Eng-lish, AP Language & Composition, Yearbook, Creative Writing, and Film Literature and is in her 11th year of teaching. She came to Rockville in 2005 and prior to that taught at Union Dug-ger High School . Mrs. Reberger attended Castle High School in Newburgh, Indiana before going to Indiana State University where she Majored in Eng-lish. Laura and Kevin have one son Daniel, age 19, who just finished his freshman year at Indi-ana University where he is a music education major. The Rebergers currently reside in Brazil, Indiana. Not only does Mrs. Reberger teach several dif-ferent classes at RHS, she serves the school as publicist as well. She also coaches the middle and high school Spell Bowl Teams, English Aca-demic Teams, and the high school Fine Arts Academic Team. Mrs. Reberger's teams have produced numerous state finalists in the Spell Bowl and English academic competitions teams at both the middle and high school levels. Mrs. Reberger belongs to the National Council for the Teachers of English, Indiana State Read-ing Association, Indiana State Teachers Associa-tion where she serves as the North Central Parke Classroom Teachers Association co-president. To add another feather in her cap, Mrs. Reberger recently took over planning for the end of the year awards program. Mrs. Reberger stated, “I love being in charge of the Student Rewards Program and most pep sessions. While students are here to learn, we can make it an enjoyable place to do that. And let's face it,
L. Reberger Named Teacher of the Month most of the memorable parts of our school years are those fun, silly times when teachers make fools of themselves and we get to laugh and have fun together. I am really looking forward to our end of the year program on May 19th where we are blending an awards program with the old Food Follies. It should be a blast!” Mrs. Reberger recalled her most memorable ac-complishment as a teacher, “Very few students love writing essays, but learning to do so well is a skill all college-bound students need. I take great pride in hearing from former students who thank me for making them learn how to do synthesis essays or analyze visual rhetoric or properly cite sources. It makes all the hours of grading papers worth it!” When asked what she does in the summer for fun, Mrs. Reberger responded, “Our son is a member of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. We spend five weeks out of the summer working on the cook truck where we prepare and serve four meals a day to 200 members and staff.” Principal Mahurin said, “Mrs. Reberger is one of
many great teachers we have here at Rock-
ville. She works very hard to make our climate
the best it can be. She is a very, very good Eng-
lish teacher, but she serves the school well in nu-
merous capacities. We are very fortunate to have
her here!”
• English 10 will finish the year with a career exploration unit, building skills in resume develop-
ment and business letter writing, culminating in a career presentation.

the major functions, include a diagram with the major parts and organs labeled, explain how
the body system works with others in the body, and find interesting facts about their chosen
system.
• 8th grade science students are learning about the animal phyla. They will research the evolution-
ary history of an animal of their choice and present their findings as a research paper or
slideshow presentation.

Art Collaboration Students in Mrs. Jacks’ ceramics class did a collaborative project with the Turkey Run second grade
students and the art teacher Mrs. Loudermilk.
The second grade students were asked to draw a monster from which Rockville students created a
three dimensional interpretation of the monster drawing. The integrity of the drawing was carefully
retained through shapes and color.
The Turkey Run art teacher, Becky Loudermilk, had her ceramic students do the project as well.
Thirty monsters were created from clay. The result is a keepsake that will be presented to the second
grade class Tuesday, May 13th when Rockville students go to Turkey Run to view the work and pre-
sent the pieces to the second grade artists. The monsters will be displayed with the
drawing in a diorama format. The monsters will be viewed, cookies and punch shared
and the high school students will interact with the children.
