Dear Brothers and Sisters, I ask for your prayers for Father Raul and our Catechists as we continue our training of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd next weekend. Our training will be the entire Memorial Day

weekend, for approximately seven hours a day. I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to our Catechists for giving up time with their families in order to bring the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd to us at St. Pe-ter’s. If you see a person wearing a little lamb pin (shown below), that person is a Catechist, attending the training. So what’s next after our training? We will be working on cre-ating the first Atrium in the basement of the parish office building. There will be updates this summer on the progress of the Atrium, along with pictures. We are in need of wood-workers who would be able to do a project or two for us, such as sanding small chairs and applying stain. There is also a need for building some small items (out of wood) for us. Please call the parish office or talk to me when you see me at Church if you are able to help.We will be opening reg-istration for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd this sum-mer! Please look for more information in June.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas: Les pido sus oraciones por el Padre Raúl y nuestros catequistas mientras continuamos nuestro entrenamiento para la Catequesis del Buen Pastor el próximo fin de semana. Nuestra capacitación será durante todo el fin de semana del Día de los Caídos, durante aproximadamente siete horas al día. Me gustaría aprovechar esta oportunidad para expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a nuestros catequistas por darnos el tiempo con sus familias por traernos la Catequesis del Buen Pastor a San Pedro. Si ve a una persona que lleva un pequeño cordero (que se muestra a continuación), esa perso-na es un catequista que asiste a la capacitación. Entonces, ¿qué sigue después de nuestro entrenamiento? Tra-bajaremos en la creación del primer Atrio en el sótano del edi-ficio de oficinas de la parroquia. Habrá actualizaciones este verano sobre el progreso del Atrio, junto con fotos. Nece-sitamos trabajadores en madera que puedan hacer un proyec-to o dos para nosotros, como lijar sillas pequeñas y quitar manchas. También existe la necesidad de construir algunos artículos pequeños (de madera) para nosotros. In the Gospel today, Jesus says “I give you a new commandment: love one another….This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

By your gift to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul you show that you have love for one another, especially those suffer-ing and poor, and that indeed you are the disciple of Jesus.

The Characteristics of the Catechesis of the Good Shephard

27. The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is al-

so concerned with helping adults open their eyes to the hidden riches of the child, espe-cially to the child’s spiritual wealth, so that adults will be drawn to learn from the child and to serve him/her. The guiding principles in this endeavor are:

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd does not seek success.

It does not set about to be important or to impress others. (Isaiah 10:33-11:10)

It is faithful to the spirit of the mustard seed. (Matthew 13:31)

It stands in solidarity with the least in the church.

28.The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd espe-cially honors the spiritual values of child-hood and wishes to nurture the formation of a consciousness which is oriented to the con-struction of the history of salvation in justice and solidarity.

27. La Catequesis del Buen Pastor también se ocupa de ayudar a los adultos a abrir los ojos a las riquezas ocultas del niño, especialmente a la riqueza espiritual del niño, para que los adultos aprendan a aprender del niño y lo sirvan. Los principios rectores en este esfuerzo son:
