Spring Cleaning at B-B—Saturday Work Day
Saturday, April 29 from 9-12
Can you give an hour –or two– or three to help with indoor work? Talk with Pastor Tim
(organizing, cleaning and other small projects)
Incoming Council Members Thomas Derenne, Steve Komes, Caryn Redemann, and Kas’ Whitmore were installed at the Worship Service on March 18.
Pastoral Search and Call
On Sunday, April 8, we took the next step in our Search and Call process when the Search Committee was formally commissioned. The Search Committee will review ministerial profiles (resumes), choosing which they will interview. They met together for the first time with Jane Anderson, Associate Conference Minister, and received the first 9 applications. The committee has nine members: Jeanne Fehr, Cindy Krahenbuhl, Joan Kutter, Mark Plumb, David Redemann, Ruth Russell, Val Sauvé, Sara Smith, and Robert Zimmermann. Val is the Chair, Jeanne will handle communication with applicants and Joan and Mark will keep the congregation updated about the progress of the search. If you ever have questions about the process, feel free to ask any of the Search Committee Members.
Urban Immersion
Bethel-Bethany’s Urban Immersion Program has been selected to take part in the Share Fair at the Wisconsin Conference 2018 Annual Meeting in Green Lake in June. An exhibit will be set up in the room with other Wiscon-sin congregations sharing their unique initiatives. We will bring brochures describing Urban Immersion, and B-B representatives will be present to answer questions.
Picture Directory
You will soon see the new B-B picture directory! It has been sent to the printer and will be made available to B-B members when they arrive. They will be available from the ushers at the back of church in a few weeks. A free will donation to help defray the cost will be appreciated, but is not required.
Capital Campaign Celebration
A celebration of the end of the Capital Campaign will be held on May 6 after Worship. Lunch will be served. Please come and celebrate! And mark May 20 on your calendars for a Congregational Conversation led by Steve Grabow to talk about our next steps in paying off the mortgage and continuing to prepare ourselves to move into the future. Bring your ideas for improvements you would like to see in the next ten years and beyond.
Common Ground and Parish House
The Common Ground B-B Core Team will host a Summit Meeting of Sherman Park Common Ground Core Teams on May 9. All are welcome! Come see what they all have been doing! The B-B Core Team has been hard at work rehabbing the Parish House which will soon begin its new purpose as a “neighborhood resource house”. New flooring was installed on April 23-24, new meeting tables were delivered April 19, and new security doors were installed April 20. Tours of the finished ground floor will be available May 6 at the Capital Campaign Party, May 9 at the Sherman Park Common Ground Summit, and at the Tri-Block Community Dinner May 16.
New Leaders—WELCOME
Worship Committee welcomes Charlie Pauls as our new Head Usher! Congratulations, Charlie, And Thank You! And finally, as usual the Evangelism Committee has been busy, as they have welcomed new members Ta'tanisha Duckworth, Dave Redemann, and Theresa Dawson.
Mission Projects
In March, through One Great Hour of Sharing, we supported children with a school supply collection, UWM Lunch Bunch served sandwiches and cookies to hungry college students April 11, and Second Sunday Service April 8 saw 150 sandwiches made for Guest House. Our Community Clean-Up Day was snowed-out—now May 19.
Thank you all for all you do to spread God’s Love in our world!
