May, 2020 6th to 7th Math Rising 6th to 7th grader, It is important to keep your math skills sharp. The attached packet was created to not only help you review 6th grade math skills but help make the transition into 7th grade easier. It is designed to be completed over 10 weeks, there are dates at the top to help you keep track and each week is divided into 4-days. To provide the maximum benefit, you will complete this packet a little at a time over the course of the summer, As you finish a page, please note that on the bottom of the back side of each page. At the top of each of the 10 weeks is a QR code. Scan the code for helpful hints and videos about problems from that page. Answers are not available, but there are hints, tips, suggestions that will help if you have questions. I realize that things come up and some weeks it may not be possible to complete that week’s work, you can adjust as needed. I would not recommend waiting until the end of summer or trying to complete all of it in a short amount of time. The work is best done spaced out over the summer. On the next page is a list of IXL skills that correspond to many of the different skills found in the summer packet. The IXL skills are not necessary, but might be helpful if you find that you are having difficulty in a particular area. There is also on the back of the next page links and resources for OPTIONAL math activities. Use as needed, please let me know if you have any questions or need more information about any of the options. The summer packet is due the first full day of school in August. Make sure to document your thinking, work should be completed on these pages. If you need more room, attach your work. You can expect at the minimum a grade to be taken and possibly an assessment given over the material in the packet. Do not worry about our remote learning putting you behind for next year. Going into spring break, we were ahead for the year. The concepts learned remotely are already what was planned to be reviewed at the beginning of 7th grade. Rising 6th to 7th grader,

It is important to keep your math skills sharp.

I have communicated extensively with Mrs. Matthews and she is already planning how she will review, reinforce and build upon these concepts.

Have a great summer!

Mrs. Stirling

Math Enrichment Activities - a list of apps, websites with games and puzzles either played in class or used for optional activities during remote learning.

Links to printable games & other math related apps.

Freckle - an online adaptive math program (similar to IXL but more focused on problem solving), includes more video explanations. This is a form to request a login and the app installed on your ipad. Filling out the form will send a request for Mrs. Stirling to create an account for you. After the account is created (it will take a day or two), you will receive an email with login creditientals.

Something different? Try the board game Prime Climb. This link will take you to the developers website with instructions and a link to shop. It is also available from Amazon
