Where Does God Go

In The Summer? ...He goes wherever you go! “Lord...you know when I sit and stand...My travels and my rest you mark; with all my ways you are

familiar…Behind and before you encircle me.. Where can I hide from Your Spirit? From you presence, where can I flee? If I ascend to the heavens, You are there...If I fly with the wings of dawn and alight beyond the sea, Even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.” (Ps.139) Realize that there may be more obstacles than usual that get in the way of your time with God in summer months. LIFE TOGETHER Dear Friends, Well the campus will be a little quieter with the school children away for the summer. I miss their presence on campus. More May rituals continue this weekend with the diocesan priesthood ordinations. We’ll be ordaining two new priests for service and I would ask you to pray that more will be aware of this calling to serve through diocesan priesthood. God is faithful. This weekend the parish JustFaith group will have their concluding retreat on campus. These 6 participants have spent this past year learning about Catholic Social Justice teachings and how the Church is engaged with the world. Since we leave the Table of the Eucharist each Sunday to “serve the Lord”, a prime place for service lies within the lives of the poor. Its hard to grapple with social issues because these issues are invariably messy and often very difficult. Compassion is the virtue that leads us. Next week, the financial feasibility interviews will be conducted in the parish office to help us determine if a Capital Campaign is in our future. With our partner, Institute of School and Parish Development, a large number of parishioners will be interviewed about the Master Plan project. If you have scheduled an interview, please be present at the scheduled time. The interview will last ½ hour and will be held in the parish office. Please pray for the fruitfulness of this work for us all. The Parish Summer Dance is scheduled for next Saturday. The Community Life Commission thought having a summer time dance, at low cost, would be appealing so we are going to give this first effort a try. If you are so inclined to take your sweetheart to the dance, pretend you are at prom and come give it a try! Tickets continue to be sold after Masses on Sunday. Please remember the parish food pantry next week-end. Have a good end of May week! Love

VOCATION How firm is your foundation of faith? Listen to Jesus’ words and use them as the solid rock on which to build your life. Consider ministry in the Church, call Fr. Matt Lorrain at 225.336.8778, [email protected], or visit, www.diobr.org/vocations.

MOVING? CHANGE OF ADDRESS? If you are moving out of the parish or have a change of address and wish to remain in the parish, PLEASE NOTIFY THE PARISH OFFICE. Every week, envelopes are returned to us and the parish has to pay the postage due. It can get quite costly. The post office will not forward envelopes to a new address even if you have filled out a mail forwarding form. If you let us know your plans soon enough, your envelope service can continue uninterrupted.

SCHOOL APPLICATIONS Applications for prospective students for the 2011-2012 school year are being accepted in the school office. They are also available on our website, www.stjeanvianneyschool.org. St. Jean Vianney School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality or ethnic origin.
