PARISH NEWS
We continue to serve our parish family during the current Coronavirus restrictions. Sunday and
daily Masses are open to the public with some restrictions, for details see page 8.
The Adoration Chapel is closed to the public at this time. We will continue to live-stream all
regular Masses at our website www.stpatricklaredo.org
Confessions will be held at the Church:
Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 2:00 p.m.
On Sundays the Confessions will be held in the parish hall 30 minutes before each
Sunday Mass.
The parish office is open during regular office hours:
Monday: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Tuesday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
All parishioners must wear a mask. Please, if you are feeling sick, coughing,
sneezing, stay home and instead call us at 956-722-6215.
Sunday bulletins will be available in a box in front of the office, or online at our website.

Continuamos sirviendo a nuestra familia parroquial durante las recientes restricciones debido al Coronavirus. Las misas dominicales, así como también las misas diarias, ya están abiertas al público, pero con algunas restricciones, favor de seguir las recomendaciones que se encuentran en la página 8. Por ahora, nuestra Capilla de Adoración continuará cerrada al público. Restoration of Public Worship: Attending Mass Thanks be to God, our parishes are now open to the public for Holy Mass! There are, however, some prudent measures being carried out for the safety of everyone. Also, the dispensation from the obligation of participating in Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligation remains in effect (Decree of Bishop James Tamayo, The Phased Restoration of Public Worship,” May 22, 2020). While the bishop’s dispensation from attending Sunday Mass and Holy Days of Obligations continues to be in effect, I encourage all Catholics who can safely do so, to begin to attend Mass, if they have not done so already. In the Eucharistic Prayer I or the Roman Canon we hear the priest pray: “On the day before he was to suffer ... he took bread in his holy and venerable hands, and with eyes raised to heaven to you, O God, His almighty Father, giving you thanks, he said the blessing, broke the bread and gave it to His disciples say-ing: ‘Take this, all of you, and eat of it, For this is my Body, which will be given up for you ... In a similar way when supper was ended [Jesus gives His disciples His Blood].” We are called to partake of Our Lord’s Body and this is possible by attending Mass. The Mass is meant to be a visible sign of our communion with the saints, with the Body of Christ, and a remembrance of Jesus dying for us on the Cross. Jesus died for us on the Cross and left us His Body so that we may receive the spiritual food which will guide us to heaven. “Jesus said to them, ‘Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you … Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in men and I in him … This is the bread that came down from heaven … whoever eats this bread will live forever” (John 6: 53-58, USCCB). Jesus wants us to partake of His Body so that we may have eternal life. He wants us to be a person of community as He is with the Father and the Holy Spirit. If we think about it, the Holy Trinity is a community. We are called to come together as the one Body of Christ. In the Mass, people of all races and ethnicities can come together and worship God as one. In the Mass we hear God’s Word which is meant to transform us and to be taken to the outside world and transform people into Christians. The Eucharist is supposed to make us what we eat, another Christ! Therefore, if you can safely do so, I
encourage you to come to Mass. I understand many of us might be hesitant to attend Mass even if we are healthy. If you have any of the underlying health conditions, or you are taking care of some with any of the underlying health conditions or some one who is sickly or prone to become easily sick, I invite you to see the Mass via live-streaming instead at our webpage <www.stpatricklaredo.org> Seeing the Mass live-streamed is a good reminder to continue reading the Scriptures and to hear the homily which will guide you to become a better Christian. It will help you to continue practicing your spiritual life on Sundays and every time you view the Holy Mass. At Saint Patrick, the Mass schedule has not been altered. Daily Mass continues to be offered Monday - Friday at 7 a.m. and at 6 p.m. On Saturdays daily Mass is offered at 8 a.m. and the Vigil Mass
at 5 p.m. Sunday Masses are at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p. m., 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. Confessions will be heard 30 minutes before every Sunday Mass in the Parish Hall and during the week: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7:30 pm in the church. Restauración del culto público: asistir a misa ¡Gracias a Dios, nuestras parroquias ahora están abiertas al público para la Santa Misa! Sin embargo, se están tomando algunas medidas prudentes para la seguridad de todos. Es importante también recordar, que la dispensación de la obligación de asistir a Misa los domingos y días de obligación continua vigente para todos en la Diócesis de Laredo. (Decreto del obispo James Tamayo, La restauración por fases de la adoración pública”, 22 de mayo de 2020). A pesar de la dispensación del obispo, quisiera animar a todos aquellos católicos que aún no han asistido a misa y que gozan de buena salud, que se animen a asistir a la misa. En la Plegaria eucarística I, o en el canon romano escuchamos al sacerdote rezar: “El cual, en la víspera de su Pasión, tomo pan en sus santas y venerables manos, y, elevando los ojos, hacia ti, Dios, Padre suyo todopoderoso, dando gracias te bendijo, lo partió, y lo dio a sus discípulos diciendo: 'Tomad y comed todos de él porque esto es mi cuerpo, que será entregado por vosotros’… De la misma manera, al terminar la cena, [Jesús da a sus discípulos su sangre].” Estamos llamados a participar del Cuerpo de Nuestro Señor y esto es posible asistiendo a la Misa. La Misa está destinada a ser una señal visible de nuestra comunión con los santos, con el Cuerpo de Cristo, y nos ayuda a recordar de que Jesús murió por nosotros en la Cruz. Jesús murió por nosotros en la cruz y nos dejó su cuerpo para que podamos recibir el alimento espiritual que nos guiará al cielo. “Jesús les dijo: 'En verdad, en verdad os digo: si no coméis la carne del Hijo del hombre, y no bebéis su sangre, no tenéis vida en vosotros ... El que come mi carne y bebe mi sangre, permanece en mí, y yo en él... Este es el pan bajado del cielo ... el que coma este pan vivirá para siempre.” (Juan 6: 53-58, USCCB). Jesús quiere que participemos de su cuerpo para que podamos tener vida eterna. Él quiere que seamos una persona en comunidad como lo está con el Padre y el Espíritu Santo. Si lo pensamos bien, la Santísima Trinidad es una comunidad. Estamos llamados a unirnos como el único Cuerpo de Cristo. En la misa, personas de todas las razas y étnicas pueden unirse y adorar a Dios como uno. En la misa escuchamos la Palabra de Dios que tiene la intención de transformarnos y ser llevados al mundo exterior y transformar a las personas en cristianos. ¡Se supone que la Eucaristía nos hace lo que comemos, otro Cristo! Por lo tanto, si gozas de buena salud y puedes venir a misa, te animo a que
vengas. Entiendo que muchos de nosotros aun dudamos si deberíamos asistir o no a misa, incluso cuando gozamos de buena salud. Las personas con síntomas asociados con la enfermedad, las personas con condiciones médicas pre-existentes, y aquellos que han estado muy cerca de las personas que salieron con resultado positivo, o si su salud es débil, entonces los invito a continuar viendo la Misa a través de la transmisión en vivo en nuestra página web <www.stpatricklaredo.org>. Al ver la Misa transmitida en vivo es un buen recordatorio para continuar leyendo las Escrituras y escuchar la homilía que le guiará a convertirse en un mejor cristiano y le ayudará a continuar practicando su vida espiritual los domingos y cada vez que pueda participar en la Santa Misa. En Saint Patrick, el horario de misas no ha cambiado. Masses Open to the Public Again! We are very happy to be able to re-open our parish doors to our community. We look forward in seeing you for weekend Masses and Masses during the week. We have taken some extra measures to ensure the health and wellbeing of all our parishioners, volunteers, staff, and clergy. Please review the following changes and guidelines before attending Mass, to ensure the safety of everyone. 1. Admission into the Church will be on a first come - first serve basis. When the Church is filled, we will send people to the parish hall, where the Mass will be live-streamed, and ministers will go there to distribute Holy Communion. 2. Before exiting your vehicle, everyone over the age of 2 must be wearing a mask. This mask should be worn at all times during the Mass, except for the brief moment when you will be receiving Holy Communion. 3. As you enter the church, please use hand sanitizer for yourself and each member of your family. Please consider bringing your own sanitizer, if possible. 4. An usher will escort you (and your family) to a designated pew; because of the guidelines given to us, you may not choose your own pew. If the church has reached its maximum capacity, you will be redirected to the parish hall. 5. All persons must be seated 6 feet away from others on the pew, except a household (those who live in the same house) may sit together without needing to be separated. 6. Communion will be given at the end of each Mass. A volunteer will direct the people in each pew when to go up for Holy Communion, or to leave the Church. After receiving Holy Communion, please immediately consume the Eucharist in the Church and then leave the Church and return to your car. Please take all belongings with you as you will not be permitted to go back to your pew. 7. Please do not congregate in the Church, the hall, or in our parking lots after Mass, for the health and safety of all concerned. Volunteers will stay after every Mass to disinfect the Church. Remember that all persons in the Diocese of Laredo are still dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. Those who are sick, those who are more vulnerable to the Coronavirus, and those who live with the more vulnerable, should NOT attend Mass at this time. ¡Las Misas Abiertas al Público Otra Vez!
Estamos muy contentos de poder volver a abrir las puertas de nuestra parroquia a nuestra comunidad. Esperamos verlos para las Misas del fin de semana y las Misas durante la semana. Hemos tomado algunas medidas adicionales para garantizar la salud y el bienestar de todos nuestros feligreses, voluntarios, personal y clero. 4. Un ujier lo acompañará (y a su familia) a un banco designado; debido a las pautas que nos han dado, no puede elegir su propio banco. Si la iglesia ha alcanzado su capacidad máxima, será redirigido a la sala parroquial.
5. Todas las personas deben estar sentadas a 6 pies de distancia de otras en la banca, excepto un hogar (aquellos que viven en la misma casa) pueden sentarse juntos sin necesidad de separarse.
6. La Sagrada Comunión se dará al final de cada misa. Un voluntario dirigirá a las personas en cada banca cuando pueden ir a la Sagrada Comunión y para salir de la Iglesia.
