Dear Parishioners,

The Catholic Comeback is a detailed plan for parishes in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee to return to Mass

in phases based on the readiness of each parish. The soonest a parish can resume Mass is Sunday, May 31.

After prayerfully reviewing The Catholic Comeback directives and discussing our parish’s readiness,

I, Fr. Carlos Florez, in consultation with the staff, councils, and commission chairs, have made the decision

that St Mark the Evangelist will not resume Mass on May 31. We will look at a possible start date of

June 27th instead.

We all long to be together for Mass. We greatly miss seeing each other and celebrating our faith as a

community. This was a very difficult decision, but I believe the right one for our parish community

for the following reasons:

1. The health of our community is our priority and we want you to be safe and healthy.

2. Catholics have been granted dispensation by Archbishop Listecki to physically not come to mass until

July 5th.

3. While keeping the safety of our entire community in our minds and in our hearts, Archbishop Listecki

has allowed us to decide to open our churches or to remain closed.

4. We understand the void in your hearts as you are unable to receive the Holy Eucharist. If you need to

receive communion call us 262-656-7373, email us [email protected] or text 262-515-8919.

Leave a brief message with your name and phone number. We will return your call during regular

business hours, Monday through Friday 9am – 4pm.

5. Most recent studies show that the number of people with Covid-19 is increasing.

6. Test availability is increasing, but we have also learned that almost half of the cases who test positive

for Covid-19 are asymptomatic.

7. Some members of St. Mark's community have tested positive for Covid-19.

8. We have elderly, children and immune-compromised members in our community that we care for.

9. We have learned that we will not have enough volunteers to serve during masses at this time.

10. If we wait, we can learn from other communities how to take the most effective precautions for when

we open and the level of confidence of our ministers can increase.

11. We will continue to live stream daily English and Spanish mass online on St. Mark's parish Facebook

page.

12. We want to keep our priests safe and healthy because we want to be here for you.

Queridos Feligreses,

El Retorno Católico es un plan detallado para que las parroquias de la Arquidiócesis de Milwaukee regresen a la

Misa en fases, basado en la preparación de cada parroquia. Lo más pronto que una parroquia puede reanudar la

The end of the school year is rapidly

approaching and while it certainly

looks different than any other school

year in the history of St. Joseph, there

learning, but also of maximizing resources, strengthening

This year because

of concern for

everyone's health

and safety… we will

observe the Blue-Ribbon Campaign differently…

but… our love, prayers, concern and care for

victims of abuse remain the same.

Normally when we all come to Mass, everyone

has been handed a blue ribbon. We all pray and

then have gathered to tie them on a long string

that runs down the main aisle of the Church.

Than the over 1000 blue ribbons are hung on the

Cross in the front of the Church to symbolize that

all of our prayers for victims of abuse are in the

loving and compassionate hands of Christ.

We have done this now for over 5 years. On June

13th &14th, we will pray for victims abuse during

Mass. We will visibly have blue ribbons present in

a prayerful manner during the Mass. There will be

simple symbols and blue ribbons present during

the Mass which is stream lined.

A reading from the Acts of the Apostles

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled,

they were all in one place together.

And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a

strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in

which they were.

Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,

which parted and came to rest on each one of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to

speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to

proclaim.

Now there were devout Jews from every nation under

heaven staying in Jerusalem.

were confused because each one heard them speaking

A reading from the first Letter of Saint Paul to the

Corinthians

Brothers and sisters:

No one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same

Spirit;

there are different forms of service but the same Lord;

there are different workings but the same God

who produces all of them in everyone.

To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit

is given for some benefit.

As a body is one though it has many parts,

and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body,

so also Christ.

For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body,

whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons,

and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

El día de Pentecostés, todos los discípulos estaban reunidos

en un mismo lugar. De repente se oyó un gran ruido que

venía del cielo, como cuando sopla un viento fuerte, que

resonó por toda la casa donde se encontraban. Entonces

aparecieron lenguas de fuego, que se distribuyeron y se

posaron sobre ellos; se llenaron todos del Espíritu Santo y

empezaron a hablar en otros idiomas, según el Espíritu los

inducía a expresarse.

En esos días había en Jerusalén judíos devotos, venidos de

todas partes del mundo. Al oír el ruido, acudieron en masa

y quedaron desconcertados, porque cada uno los oía

hablar en su propio idioma.

Atónitos y llenos de admiración, preguntaban: "¿No son

galileos, todos estos que están hablando? ¿Cómo, pues,

los oímos hablar en nuestra lengua nativa? Entre nosotros

hay medos, partos y elamitas; otros vivimos en Mesopota-

mia, Judea, Capadocia, en el Ponto y en Asia, en Frigia y

en Panfilia, en Egipto o en la zona de Libia que limita con

Cirene. Algunos somos visitantes, venidos de Roma, judíos

y prosélitos; también hay cretenses y árabes. Y sin embargo,

cada quien los oye hablar de las maravillas de Dios en su

SEGUNDA LECTURA

1 Cor 12, 3b-7. 12-13

Lectura de la primera carta del apóstol san Pablo a los Corintios

Hermanos: Nadie puede llamar a Jesús "Señor", si no es

bajo la acción del Espíritu Santo.

Hay diferentes dones, pero el Espíritu es el mismo. Hay

diferentes servicios, pero el Señor es el mismo. Hay

diferentes actividades, pero Dios, que hace todo en todos,

es el mismo. En cada uno se manifiesta el Espíritu para el

bien común.

Porque así como el cuerpo es uno y tiene muchos miem-

bros y todos ellos, a pesar de ser muchos, forman un solo

cuerpo, así también es Cristo. Porque todos nosotros,

seamos judíos o no judíos, esclavos o libres, hemos sido

bautizados en un mismo Espíritu para formar un solo cuer-

po, y a todos se nos ha dado a beber del mismo Espíritu. Palabra de Dios.

EVANGELIO Juan 20, 19-23

Al anochecer del día de la resurrección, estando

cerradas las puertas de la casa donde se hallaban los

discípulos, por miedo a los judíos, se presentó Jesús

en medio de ellos y les dijo:

"La paz esté con ustedes". Dicho esto, les mostró las

manos y el costado.

Cuando los discípulos vieron al Señor, se llenaron de

alegría. De nuevo les dijo Jesús:

"La paz esté con ustedes. Como el Padre me ha

enviado, así también los envío yo".

Después de decir esto, sopló sobre ellos y les dijo:

"Reciban el Espíritu Santo. A los que les perdonen los

pecados, les quedarán perdonados; y a los que no se

los perdonen, les quedarán sin perdonar".

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother

and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,

When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there

“Woman, behold, your son.”

Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.”

And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

After this, aware that everything was now finished,

in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled,

Jesus said, “I thirst.”

There was a vessel filled with common wine.

So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of

hyssop and put it up to his mouth.

When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.”

And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.

Now since it was preparation day, in order that the

bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath,

for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one,

the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and

they be taken down.

So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with

Jesus.

But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was

already dead, they did not break his legs, but one

soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately

Blood and water flowed out.

EVANGELIO Juan 19, 25-34 Lectura del santo Evangelio según san Juan

En aquel tiempo, junto a la cruz de Jesús estaban

su madre, la hermana de su madre, María la de

Cleofás, y María Magdalena. Al ver a su madre y junto

a ella al discípulo que tanto quería, Jesús dijo a su madre: “Mujer, ahí está tu hijo”. Luego dijo al discípu-

lo: “Ahí está tu madre”. Y desde entonces el discípulo

se la llevó a vivir con él. Después de esto, sabiendo

Jesús que todo había llegado a su

término, para que se cumpliera la Escritura, dijo:

“Tengo sed”. Había allí un jarro lleno de vinagre.

Los soldados sujetaron una esponja empapada en

vinagre a una caña de hisopo y se la acercaron a la boca. Jesús probó el vinagre y dijo:

“Todo está cumplido”,

e inclinando la cabeza, entrego el espíritu.

Entonces, los judíos, como era el día de la

preparación de la Pascua, para que los cuerpos de los

ajusticiados no se quedaran en la cruz el sábado,

porque aquel sábado era un día muy solemne, pidieron a Pilato que les quebraran las

piernas y los quitaran de la cruz. Fueron los soldados,

le quebraron las piernas a uno y luego al otro de los

que habían sido crucificados con Jesús. Pero al llegar

a él, viendo que ya había muerto, no le quebraron las

piernas, sino que uno de los soldados le traspasó el

costado con una lanza e inmediatamente salió sangre

y agua.

Some Pharisees and Herodians were sent

to Jesus to ensnare him in his speech.

They came and said to him,

“Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man

and that you are not concerned with anyone’s

opinion. You do not regard a person’s status

but teach the way of God in accordance with the

truth. Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or

not? Should we pay or should we not pay?”

Knowing their hypocrisy he said to them,

“Why are you testing me? Bring me a denarius to

look at.”

They brought one to him and he said to them,

“Whose image and inscription is this?”

They replied to him, “Caesar’s.”

So Jesus said to them,

“Repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar

and to God what belongs to God.”

They were utterly amazed at him.

Hermanos: Piensen con cuánta santidad y entrega deben vivir ustedes esperando y apresurando el

advenimiento del día del Señor,

cuando desaparecerán los cielos, consumidos por el

fuego, y se derretirán los elementos.

Pero nosotros confiamos en la promesa del Señor y

esperamos un cielo nuevo y una tierra nueva,

en que habite la justicia.

Por lo tanto, queridos hermanos, apoyados en esta esperanza, pongan todo su empeño en que el Señor

los halle en paz con él, sin mancha ni reproche, y

consideren que la magnanimidad de Dios es nuestra

salvación.

Así pues, queridos hermanos, ya están ustedes

avisados; vivan en guardia para que no los arrastre el

error de los malvados y pierdan su seguridad.

En aquel tiempo, los sumos sacerdotes,

los escribas y los ancianos le enviaron a Jesús unos

fariseos y unos partidarios de Herodes,

para hacerle una pregunta capciosa. Se acercaron,

pues, a él y le dijeron:

“Maestro, sabemos que eres sincero y que no te

importa lo que diga la gente, porque no tratas de

adular a los hombres, sino que enseñas con toda

verdad el camino de Dios. ¿Está permitido o no,

pagarle el tributo al César? ¿Se lo damos o no se lo

damos?”

Jesús, notando su hipocresía, les dijo:

“¿Por qué me ponen una trampa? Tráiganme una

moneda para que yo la vea”.

Se la trajeron y él les preguntó:

“¿De quién es la imagen y el nombre que lleva es-

crito?”

Le contestaron: “Del César”.

Entonces les respondió Jesús:

“Den al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que

es de Dios”. Y los dejó admirados.

to Timothy

Paul, an Apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God

for the promise of life in Christ Jesus, to Timothy,

my dear child:

grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father

and Christ Jesus our Lord.

I am grateful to God, whom I worship with a clear

conscience as my ancestors did, as I remember you

constantly in my prayers, night and day.

For this reason, I remind you to stir into flame the

gift of God that you have through the imposition of

my hands.

For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice but

rather of power and love and self-control.

So do not be ashamed of your testimony to our

Lord, nor of me, a prisoner for his sake; but bear

your share of hardship for the Gospel with the

strength that comes from God.

He saved us and called us to a holy life, not accord-

ing to our works but according to his own design

and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before

time began, but now made manifest through the

appearance of our savior Christ Jesus, who de-

stroyed death and brought life and immortality to

light through the Gospel, for which

I was appointed preacher and Apostle and teacher.

On this account I am suffering these things;

but I am not ashamed, for I know him in whom I

have believed and am confident that he is able to

guard what has been entrusted to me until that

leaving no descendants.

Last of all the woman also died. At the resurrection when they arise whose wife will

she be?

For all seven had been married to her.”

Jesus said to them, “Are you not misled

because you do not know the Scriptures or the power

of God?

When they rise from the dead,

they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but they are like the angels in heaven.

As for the dead being raised,

have you not read in the Book of Moses,

in the passage about the bush, how God told him,

I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not God of the dead but of the living.

You are greatly misled.”

Lectura de la segunda carta del san Pablo a Timoteo Pablo, apóstol de Jesucristo por voluntad de Dios,

conforme a la promesa de vida que hay en Cristo

Jesús, a Timoteo, hijo querido. Te deseo la gracia,

la misericordia y la paz de Dios Padre y de Cristo

Jesús, Señor nuestro.

Cuando de noche y de día te recuerdo en mis

oraciones, le doy gracias a Dios, a quien sirvo

con una conciencia pura, como lo aprendí de mis

antepasados.

Por eso te recomiendo que reavives el don de Dios

que recibiste cuando te impuse las manos. Porque el

Señor no nos ha dado un espíritu de temor, sino de

fortaleza, de amor y de moderación. No te avergüen-

ces, pues, de dar testimonio de nuestro Señor, ni te

avergüences de mí, que estoy preso por su causa.

Al contrario, comparte conmigo los sufrimientos por

la predicación del Evangelio, sostenido por la fuerza

de Dios. El nos ha salvado y nos ha llamado a llevar

una vida santa, no por nuestros méritos, sino por su

propia determinación y por la gracia que nos ha sido

dada, en Cristo Jesús, desde toda la eternidad.

Esta gracia es la que se ha manifestado ahora con el

advenimiento de nuestro salvador, Jesucristo,

quien ha destruido la muerte e irradiado la vida y la

inmortalidad por medio del Evangelio, del que he

sido nombrado predicador, apóstol y maestro.

Por este motivo soporto esta prisión,

pero no me da vergüenza, porque sé en quién he

puesto mi confianza, y estoy seguro de que él con

su poder cuidará, hasta el último día, lo que me ha

encomendado.

según san Marcos

En aquel tiempo, fueron a ver a Jesús algunos de

los saduceos, los cuales afirman que los muertos no

resucitan, y le dijeron: “Maestro, Moisés nos dejó

escrito que si un hombre muere dejando a su viuda

sin hijos, que la tome por mujer el hermano del que

murió, para darle descendencia a su hermano. Había

una vez siete hermanos, el primero de los cuales se

casó y murió sin dejar hijos. El segundo se casó con

la viuda y murió también, sin dejar hijos; lo mismo el

tercero. Los siete se casaron con ella y ninguno de

ellos dejó descendencia. Por último, después de

todos, murió también la mujer. El día de la resurrec-

ción, cuando resuciten de entre los muertos, ¿de cuál

de los siete será mujer? Porque fue mujer de los sie-

te”.

Jesús les contestó: “Están en un error, porque no

entienden las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios. Pues

cuando resuciten de entre los muertos, ni los

hombres tendrán mujer ni las mujeres marido, sino

que serán como los ángeles del cielo. Y en cuanto al

hecho de que los muertos resucitan, ¿acaso no han

leído en el libro de Moisés aquel pasaje de la zarza,

en que Dios le dijo: Yo soy el Dios de Abraham,

el Dios de Isaac, el Dios de Jacob? Dios no es Dios de

muertos, sino de vivos. Están, pues, muy equivoca-

dos””.

A reading from the second Letter of Paul

to Timothy

Beloved:

Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead,

a descendant of David:

such is my Gospel, for which I am suffering,

even to the point of chains, like a criminal.

But the word of God is not chained.

Therefore, I bear with everything for the sake of

those who are chosen, so that they too may obtain

the salvation that is in Christ Jesus,

together with eternal glory.

This saying is trustworthy:

If we have died with him

we shall also live with him;

if we persevere

we shall also reign with him.

But if we deny him

he will deny us.

If we are unfaithful

he remains faithful,

for he cannot deny himself.

Remind people of these things

and charge them before God to stop disputing

about words.

This serves no useful purpose since it harms those

who listen.

Be eager to present yourself as acceptable to God,

a workman who causes no disgrace,

imparting the word of truth without deviation..

Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these.”

The scribe said to him, “Well said, teacher.

You are right in saying,

He is One and there is no other than he. And to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is worth more than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”

And when Jesus saw that he answered with under-

standing,

he said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of

God.”

And no one dared to ask him any more questions.

PRIMERA LECTURA 2 Tm 2, 8-15 Lectura de la segunda carta del san Pablo a Timoteo Querido hermano: Recuerda siempre que Jesucristo,

descendiente de David, resucitó de entre los muertos,

conforme al Evangelio que yo predico. Por este Evan-

gelio sufro hasta llevar cadenas, como un malhechor;

pero la Palabra de Dios no está encadenada. Por eso

lo sobrellevo todo por amor a los elegidos, para que

ellos también alcancen en Cristo Jesús la salvación, y

con ella, la gloria eterna.

Es verdad lo que decimos:

“Si morimos con él, viviremos con él;

si nos mantenemos firmes, reinaremos con él;

si lo negamos, él también nos negará;

si le somos infieles, él permanece fiel,

porque no puede contradecirse a sí mismo”.

Eso es lo que has de enseñar. Adviérteles a todos,

delante de Dios, que eviten las discusiones por

cuestión de palabras, lo cual no sirve para nada,

sino para perdición de los oyentes.

Esfuérzate por presentarte ante Dios como

trabajador intachable, que no tiene de qué

avergonzarse y predica fielmente la verdad..

sacrificios”.

Jesús, viendo que había hablado muy sensatamente,

le dijo:

“No estás lejos del Reino de Dios”.

In fact, all who want to live religiously in Christ Jesus

will be persecuted.

But wicked people and charlatans will go from bad

to worse, deceivers and deceived.

But you, remain faithful to what you have learned

because you know from whom you learned it, and that from infancy you have known the sacred

Scriptures,

which are capable of giving you wisdom for

salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
