May 5, 2013 6TH SUNDAY OF EASTER MASS INTENTIONS AN EMPTY ROOM AN EMPTY ROOM Jesus left them alone, and the disciples were stunned. Was He serious? Would they really be able to live like Him? They could- n't imagine it, but He believed it. And so He left. A shock, a challenge, a chance. A harsh action that hid the most gentle lov- ing heart. He left them alone to learn to be like Him. A child will stay a child as long as his parent's arms shelter him from the world. So it is with God's children as well. We need to be forced to stand on our feet and struggle down the weary road alone. Only then will our abilities flourish and our hearts be strengthened. The good news of an empty tomb is now the good news of an empty room. CELEBRATE THE NATIONCELEBRATE THE NATIONAL WEEK FOR LIFE ANDAL WEEK FOR LIFE AND THE FATHE FAM-M-IILLYY May 12 -19. “It means caring for one another in our families: hus-bands and wives first protect one another, and then, as parents, they care for their children, and children themselves, in time, protect their par-ents.” (Pope Francis at the Solemnity of St. Joseph, March 19, 2013.) For more information and resources: www.rcav.org/lifeandfamilyweek.

Prayer for the family to pray together : God, you have created us in love and saved us in mercy, and through the bond of marriage you have established the family and willed that it should become a sign of Christ’s love for his Church.

Shower your blessings on this family gathered here in your name. Enable those who are joined by one love to support one another by their fervor of spirit and devotion to prayer. Make them responsive to the needs of oth-ers and witnesses to the faith in all they say and do. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION

In today’s Gospel Jesus tells His disciples not to be troubled or afraid. We can worry about a lot of things in our day-to-day lives. At times it may be hard to trust God, with the result that we cling to things too tightly. Trust is a virtue at the heart of the stewardship way of life. Peace will never be found in the things of this world. Trusting in our good and gracious God who provides all we need is the only source of lasting peace of mind.
