Check out funshineexpress.com for Book Lists corresponding to each month’s themes. Get to know your local librarians and ask for their recommendations as well. Pet Friends: Cats, dogs, turtles, fish, hamsters, and birds fill this theme with pet-related fun. The children will talk about caring for pets, learn about a veterinarian’s job, and have an opportunity to share pictures or information about their own pets. Gardening and Growing: Seeds, soil, parts of a plant, and gardening provide plenty of hands- on work and fun. The children will learn about different types of flowers and vegetables that grow in gardens. We’ll also touch on what it means to be “green.” Where, Oh Where? Where, oh where has my little dog gone? Pet CareSung to “This Old Man”

Gentle hands, gentle hands,Handle pets with gentle hands. If you’re rough, a pet won’t like it very much.Always use a gentle touch.

Loving care, loving care,Handle pets with loving careOh, your pets need food and water every day,And they need time to run and play.

Growing PlantsSung to “Skip to My Lou”

What helps little plants to grow?Water helps them grow, I know.Rainfall or a garden hoseHelps to keep them growing.

Chorus:Grow, grow, plants will grow.Grow, grow, plants will grow.Grow, grow, plants will growWhen we give them water.
