Chapter Leadership Change During the last 7+ years, our chapter ex-  perienced the superb leadership provided  by Hank Hosfield. At our January board of directors meeting, Hank announced his resignation as chapter president, effective February 28, 2008. During Hanks tenure, Tualatin Valley grew into the largest TU chapter in Oregon with 658 members on our roster. Hanks emphasis was on conservation along with fellowship and fishing. He strived for membership involvement and satisfaction. The excellent programs weve seen are a result of Hanks efforts to select, contact and coordinate presenters. We are fortu- nate to have individuals present to us an array of topics dealing with conservation issues such as watersheds, global warming, fish habitat and the like; presenters on legal and procedural matters such as legis- lative workings in Oregon, national TU efforts and conservation specific groups. Finally, weve had opportunities to experi- ence fishing throughout Oregon, North- west and all over the world. For example, our February presenter told us about and showed us pictures of fishing in the Bahamas. Our chaptersfirst ever president was Tom Wolf. Tom recognized the strong role TU could play in helping the environment, and fishing, i n Oregon. Our chapter started 15.5 y ears ago. Six people a ttended the initial chapter meeting. While forming our chapter, Tom laid a foundation from which weve built a viable and large group of peo-  ple interested in TUs goals to protect, re- connect, restore and sustain our watersheds. Tom now serves as president of the Oregon Council of Trout Unlimited while remaining an active chapter member. Hank: your friends in Tualatin Valley TU as well as the other Oregon TU chapters, send you our heartfelt thank you and apprecia- tion. When it comes to l ake fishing, most o f us think about central Oregon. Much less attention is given to the lakes o n our coast, but many good fishing lakes res ide in the Dunes National Recreation Area. Lloyd Thurman has been fishing most of them for the better part of his life. With a fly rod and a float t ube he enjoys year-round fishing upon the se less-pressured coastal lakes for a wide range of species, including trout, bass, salmon and steelhead. Lloyd's program covers all of the important fishing lakes on the central coast. He'll bring maps, p amphlets and encyclopedic knowledge. Attendees will want to bring their note pads . The Featured Speaker for the meeting scheduled for June 10 is not yet confirmed. Please look to Westfly, the Ore- gon Council of TU’s new blog, The Oregonian, or contact a board member for an update as the me eting draws near. THE TROUT LINE VOLUME 08, ISSUE 3 MAY/JUNE 2008  Tyron Creek: Electro fishing and putting in pit tags; culvert retrofitting/replacing and monitor- ing places where to put in structure, and helping with other structure. Of interest is diversity of young fish found in this creek, i.e., cutthroats, cuttbows, cutt/steelhead and steelhead, largest at 10”. Also, one large steelhead and steelhead smolts are expected.
