April and the 4th of May in two different slots as a part of their
‘Health and Hygiene’ campaign program. They visited the factory at
Tejgaon by School bus. Upon reaching, the children were taken to
the conference room and treated with ice-creams. Before the
factory visit, children had to wear caps, masks, and cover their
shoes with plastic covers to maintain the high standard of the
factory. During the factory visit, the children briefed about the
process, production and hygiene. It was a successful trip and
children enjoyed themselves immensely.
World Labour Day
On the 4th of May, a Special Assembly for Grades 1- 5 was held in the auditorium to celebrate “World Labour Day”.
Mothers’ Day 2015 in Pre Primary
Mothers’ Day was
celebrated by the preprimary section of DPS STS School with great enthusiasm on Sunday, the 10th of May. The ground floor of the school, corridors, the classrooms and the soft boards around the play area were decorated with children’s
craft, colouring work and Mothers’ day quotes. The school premise looked very colourful and festive. Mothers were given a notice beforehand so that even the working mothers could participate. A lot of mothers of the four graders brought home made food items to share with the other children and their mothers. The Playgroup, Nursery, Pre KG and KG classes invited the mothers for an hour and half duration during both the shifts. Both indoor and outdoor activities were kept in the planner and Playgroup gathered in the play area for the Pillow passing game for the mothers.
3
The children presented the Mothers’ Day song with warm gestures. Then the mothers took a trip down their memory lane and shared some stories from their childhood which were indeed very touchy and emotional for all of us. Some of the mothers even sang for their children! Last but not least, just before going home, the children handed over the special Mothers’ Day card to their mothers!
All in all, the day was a success from the beginning till the end. Not only the mothers, the children and teachers enjoyed the day with their hearts’ content.

children. One of the teachers dressed up as a magician and showed a few tricks to all the children of KG to explain a
magician’s job. The topic gave the children a valuable insight about their goals in life.
Shyama
On the 16th, a Dance Drama was performed by students of Grades 5-9 depicting the story of Shyama, taken from Tagore’s famous poem Porishodh. “Shyama” is essentially a romantic tragedy, though there are two love stories intertwined: That of Shyama and Bajra Sen, who at first are both in search of their initial partners. Then there is the unexpressed, unrequited love that Uttiyo has for Shyama which leads Uttiyo to sacrifice himself for her happiness. Both romantic situations are likely to be painfully familiar to many. The entire story was depicted beautifully by the students and everyone in the audience enjoyed it thoroughly.
