Do not come to your black belt grading unprepared, for it is like a marathon, but in karate. Prepare as you would a marathon, put in the necessary work & you shall achieve. Hanshii Paul & myself was very pleased with the overall standard of this grading. Sensei Paul Mitchell Training Course Recently we had another successful course with Hanshii Paul Mitchell 8 th Dan. All those who went had a great training day working on kicking, distancing, stance and the new kata Shimpa that will soon be part of the Syllabus. Karate is not just about kicking and punching, it’s about helping you to become a balanced human being in all aspects of life. It’s also about learning how to be successful. A common trait of being successful is being passionate about what you do and willing to put in the effort to do what it takes. So to be successful at Shukokai Karate in Samurai International is about becoming successful in life. You don’t have to be the gifted prodigy who does it easy, in fact in my experience, more often than not, it’s the hard worker with a passion that achieves and wins in the end. My first course was as an Orange belt with Sensei Tommy Morris and I haven’t missed one since. I was never the stand out, I was passionate and willing (wanting) to work hard which see’s me where I am today. I hope to see you all at the next course in November - Sensei Darren
