SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER May 6th, 2018 YEAR B REFLECTION From a leer to Diognetus The Chrisan in the world. Chrisans are indisnguishable from other men either by naonality, language or customs. They do not inhabit separate cies of their own, or speak a strong dialect, or follow some outlandish way of life. Their teaching is not based upon reveries inspired by the curiosity of men. Unlike some other people, they champion no purely human doctrine. With regard to dress, food and manner of life in general, they follow the customs of whatever city they happen to be liv- ing in, whether it is Greek or foreign. And yet there is something extraordinary about their lives. They live in their own countries as though they were only passing through. They play their full role as cizens, but labor under all the disabilies of aliens. Any country can be their homeland, but for them their homeland, wherever it may be, is a for- eign country. Like others, they marry and have chil- dren, but they do not expose them. They share their meals, but not their wives. They live in the flesh, but they are not governed by the desires of the flesh. They pass their days upon earth, but they are cizens of heaven. Obedient to the laws, they yet live on a level that transcends the law. Chrisans love all men, but all men persecute them. Condemned because they are not understood, they are put to death, but raised to life again. They live in poverty, but enrich many; they are totally des- tute, but possess an abundance of everything. They suffer dishonour, but that is their glory. They are defamed, but vindicated. A blessing is their answer to abuse, deference, their response to insult. For the good they do they receive the punishment of male- factors, but even then they rejoice, as though receiv- ing the giſt of life. They are aacked by the Jews as aliens they are persecuted by the Greeks, yet no one can explain the reason of this hatred. To speak in general terms, we may say that ‘Chrisan’ is to the world what the soul is to the body. As the soul is present in every part of the body, while remaining disnct firm in it, so Chrisans are found in all the cies of the world, but cannot be idenfied with the world. As the visible body con- tains the invisible soul, so Chrisans are seen living in the world, but their religious life remains unseen. The body hates the soul and wars against it, not be- cause of any injury the soul has done it, but because of the restricon the soul places on its pleasures. Similarly, the world hates the Chrisans, not because they have done it any wrong, but because they are opposed to its enjoyments. MAY ~ The month for devotions & honour to MARY: MOTHER OF GOD When the Blessed Virgin said yes, freely, to the plans revealed to her by the Creator, the divine Word assumed a human nature -- a raonal soul and a body -- which was formed in the most pure womb of Mary. The divine nature and the human were united in a single Person: Jesus Christ, true God and, thenceforth, true man; the only begoen and eternal son of the Father and from that moment on, as man, the true son of Mary. This is why our Lady is the mother of the Incarnate Word, of the second person of the Blessed Trinity, who has united our human nature to himself forever, without any confusion of the two natures. The greatest praise we can give to the Blessed Virgin is to address her loudly and clearly by the name that expresses her very highest dignity: Mother of God'. MAY ~ The month for devotions & honour to MARY: MOTHER OF GOD When the Blessed Virgin said yes, freely, to the plans revealed to her by the Creator, the divine Word assumed a human nature -- a rational soul and a body -- which was formed in the most pure womb of Mary. Do you access the Parish Website? There is a survey on the website that we ask you to fill out. This survey will give us an indication as to who accesses the website and if it is worth keeping it active. There is a cost to sponsor it and daily work to keep it updated. I feel that if we don’t use it, is there really a need to keep it.

So please respond to the survey on the website www.holyfamilyparishssm.ca and give us your opinion in the comments box on the content of the website as well. Your input counts. Thank you.
