SARC NEWSLETTER June, 2014
Members attending the May meeting heard about the Couch potato to 5-K
program by Rebecca Davey Vivalo. She is very happy and excited about the
group. She also reminded members of the upcoming Irish Festival 5-K. Paul Bosela and his
wife Angela talked about Debbie’s dream 5-K supporting stomach cancer.
Everyone was invited to try out HOKA ONE ONE shoes. John Meadows, May’s speaker, and
Vince Rucci, from Vertical Runner, brought boxes of male and female shoes in all sizes. Mem-
ber’s were able to try on the shoes and even run a short distance in them.
John, who was a runner in college and a college coach, was very interesting and energetic. He
gave us specs on HOKA’s shoes. Their main difference is extra padding making the shoes very
bouncy.
HOKA ONE ONE has engineered a unique performance midsole that features a higher volume,
softer density and greater rebounding foam than standard running shoes. HOKA ONE ONE
