Dear Northbrook Residents,

I hope to see you at our Grand Opening open house on Saturday, June 13 and Sunday, June 14 as we celebrate the reopening of our new meeting spaces. In addition to the newly renovated and expanded first floor, we have been busy working on other changes to benefit the taxpayers.

The Board of Trustees voted to eliminate the fee to checkout movies and rental books. Starting on May 1, 2015, patrons will be able to check out any movie and any rental book in the library for free. We are changing the name of the rental book collection to Lucky Day collection and hope that you enjoy checking out these items as well as movies for no cost. The overdue fee for these items will be $1.00 per day.

Additional changes to our Fine and Fee Schedule included:

• eliminating the fee to scan

• eliminating the fee for InterLibrary Loan (ILL) materials

• eliminating the fee for replacing your library card

• eliminating the fee for internet cards

• lowering the fee for faxing to $1 per page

• lowering the maximum fine per item from $12 to $10

The Board is excited to be able to make these changes that will benefit the resident of Northbrook, and I hope that you enjoy having greater access to the materials and services at the Library.

I have enjoyed meeting many residents in the past few months and look forward to continuing to meet more people. If you have a suggestion for the Library, I would love to talk to you. Please contact me at [email protected].

Thank you for your continued support of the Library.

Friends

January 16, 2015 - March 10, 2015NEW and RENEWING MEMBERS

Even though the specter of a trying winter haunts our memories, we resilient humans are able to enjoy every hint and manifestation of a long-awaited springtime. And along with the tulips, the lilacs and the peonies, our library is approaching a full bloom to be realized in the coming weeks. The Friends Used Book Shop is being organized currently, and donated stock can now be accepted for the anticipated opening in mid-June. The need for volunteers is a constant, and member support is always appreciated. Also, the Friends Board could accommodate some additional members. We meet alternate months beginning in January. The meetings are on Tuesday mornings and last about an hour--usually including time for socializing and fellowship. Our next meeting is Tuesday, May 12.
