Our renovation is moving along briskly. The cement is being

poured, the elevator shafts are completed, and we are on track

to return to our refurbished home in December 2005.

So far, 2005 has provided us with many memorable experiences.

During Rendez-Vous with French Cinema, Catherine Deneuve

introduced Princesse Marie to a capacity crowd, and its director,

Benoît Jacquot, answered questions from the audience. We

also presented four U.S. premieres of French films, including the

sold-out screening of Arsène Lupin, where director Jean-Paul

Salomé took questions from the audience. And the Opéra

Français de New York’s presentation of Debussy’s Pelléas and

Mélisande was hailed by The New York Times as “a revelation.”

Our Nuit des Étoiles Festival Dinner at the restaurant Daniel

was a starry night thanks to our “Étoile des Étoiles,” Catherine

Deneuve, who was joined by Benoît Jacquot, Isild Le Besco,

Jacques Pépin, Geoffrey Holder, Charlie Rose, Louis Begley,

Adam Gopnik, Marthe Keller and Catherine Malandrino,

among others. We also honored board member Jacques

Bouhet, CEO of Société Générale Americas, and our long-time

artistic director, Jacqueline Chambord, with Piliers d’or to

celebrate their lasting impact on our institution. Merci mille fois

to Catherine Verret-Vimont of the French Film Office, Unifrance

USA and to the brilliant chef, Daniel Boulud, for a wonderful

evening.

The future is bright. We plan many more exciting events

for the remainder of the year. Come experience French

moments with us.

Happy summer!
