SHRM Minnesota State CouncilSHRM Minnesota State Councilmnshrm.com
On behalf of the MN SHRM State Council, we welcome you to Rochester and we look forward to sharing a great conference with you. This year’s theme is “Empowering People through Knowledge” and we believe we have a wonderful lineup of Keynote and Breakout Session speakers to enhance your professional talents and to promote the HR professions.
We are proud to host the 2nd annual Well-being Awards, sponsored by HealthPartners. This year we had over fifty companies nominated to receive the awards in recognition of outstanding health and well-being programs within their organizations. Also back this year, are the ever popular Meet-Meme trading cards. Whether you are a networking pro or a novice, the Meet-Meme cards are a great way to meet HR peers here at the Conference and develop lasting friendships.
We are very excited about our great lineup of Keynote and Breakout Session speakers. This year’s conference is excited that Diane Sieg will kick off the Conference as the Keynote Speaker for the Sunday night Well-being Awards. Joe Gerstandt and Jason Lauritsen of Talent Anarchy are the Keynote Speakers at our opening session Monday Morning, and that Cy Wakeman is the Keynote Speaker on Tuesday morning’s opening session. This year’s Master of Ceremonies and Tuesday noon Keynote Speaker is none other than Dwane Lay. We are very pleasedto offer 49 separate Breakout Sessions running from Sunday through Tuesday.
Obviously this event cannot be done by just two people, many of you helped with aspects of the conference and we appreciate each of you and the time you took to assist us.
Volunteers: Katie Jerde Speakers: Tiffany Kuehl and Jim LaumeyerRegistration: Chris Bedwell and Melissa PetersonWell-being Awards: Shawna Fronk and Carly Grieger, HealthPartners
We also want to thank all of the Sponsors and Exhibitors who are participating with this year’s conference. These organizations offer many services and products that are designed to help HR Professionals reach their organizational goals. Please take time to visit with Exhibitors in the HR Marketplace and thank the Corporate Sponsors. These sponsorships allow the MN State SHRM Conference to offer a quality event at a great value to the attendees.
Thank you for joining us and it is our hope that this year’s conference enlightens you and reminds you of the significant role you play in your organization as a HR Professional.

Based on Diane’s bestselling book of the same title (LifeLine Press, 2002), this is her most popular keynote to show you how to stay out of the emergency room of life! With humor injected stories from the emergency room, audiences come away from this upbeat and high energy program with a renewed energy and enthusiasm for self care by learning how and why to say no; triage their daily activities; eliminate the energy drainers; use OPT (other people’s time and energy); eliminate excuses, and most importantly commit to action!
Attendees leave this program saying, “You were speaking directly to me today. How did you know?” and “WOW. I really got a wake-up call”. This unique and thought-provoking program will allow you to be more productive, effective and authentic in every area of your life with a greater work/life balance! Perfect for opening your conference to set the tone of appreciation and self-care, or to end your conference with a bang and an “I can do it!” attitude.
NOTES:
Keynote Speaker Diane SiegDiane Sieg works with people who want to stop living their lives like an emergency! Emergency Living is full of panic, chaos and crisis care-taking. It keeps us moving at warp speed, multi-tasking and always thinking about the next thing. Emergency Living prevents us from paying attention to what is really important, the here and now. It keeps us busy, it keeps us frantic, it keeps us tired.
Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Diane Sieg has spent the majority of her 22 year nursing career in Hospital Emergency Rooms across the country helping people in crisis. Minutes can often mean the difference between life and death in an Emergency Room. Diane believes that minutes can also make a huge difference in our everyday lives.
An avid outdoors woman, Diane Sieg enjoys hiking, biking, snow-shoeing and skiing. Diane Sieg is a member of the National Speaker’s Association, Colorado Speaker’s Association and American Association of Lifestyle Counselors.
