disseminated to more than 1,000 radio, television, magazine & newspaper media outlets.

Featured items of interest included organized activities at Lake Loramie, Alumapalooza, the

Airstream Fine Art Show, community festivals in Jackson Center, Anna and Botkins, the

Holy Angels Parish Picnic, and downtown Sidney’s Kids Around the Square. Also promoted

were the Buckeye Farm Antiques Show and the Sidney Civic Band Summer Concert Series.

The Shelby County Historical Society’s Graceland Cemetery Tour, Downtown Sidney’s

Backstage Block Party, and Country Concert at Hickory Hill Lakes were also mentioned.

Coordinated with Scripps Media to organize the launch of the Bureau’s banner ad campaign

in May. Final art was prepared and target audiences identified to web site retarget (past

visitors to www.visitsidneyshelby.com), contextual target (keywords), and geographically

target (by location) the best audience for Sidney Visitors Bureau banner ad promotions on the

internet.

Monthly Report

Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services

In May, personnel of the Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services responded to 255 EMS

calls and 115 fire calls for a total of 370 calls compared to 359 calls in May 2016. May was

celebrated as EMS month.

Personnel conducted in-house EMS Refresher classes, Vectren Gas Emergency class, Incident

Management training, Evolution Based Swift Water Rescue training , and Ladder training.

Members of the department attended an LVAD Class at Wilson Health. One firefighter attended

a week long Confined Space Training course at BGSU. A four day ICS Training was held in the

Nancy Adams Training Center within Station 1 over the course of two weekends. A firefighter also

attended a Region III Strike Team class and three personnel went to the Ohio EMS conference in

Columbus. An online CFI course was also completed. The training lieutenant conducted an

Opioid Overdose Training class at Municipal Court. The department conducted a Vehicle and

Machinery Battery Powered Tool demo at Knight’s Towing. Numerous CPR classes were also

conducted for other agencies by the department instructors.

The Fire Prevention Division performed 80 inspections, including 17 annual inspections, 4 foster

care/adoption license inspections, and 46 re-inspections. The division also handled 3 complaints.

Special inspections were conducted at Emerson Elementary, Shelby

County Fair Grounds and Knights of Columbus. Three members of

the Prevention Division attended a fireworks class in Dayton this

month as well. They also conducted 6 adult extinguisher safety

classes at area businesses.

There were no fire investigations this month.

Many organizations give people a hand. But the Salvation Army changes lives. With a Mission to preach the gospel of jesus Christ and to meet hu­man needs in His name without discrimination,

the Salvation Army is an international movement that is very active in Sidney and Shelby County.

Locally, our impact is on families, individuals, and children . Our activities include encouraging and mentoring children and youth, feeding the hungry, providing disaster relief, and providing

comfort and solace to the elderly, lonely, and disenfranchised.

You likely know us best by our red kettles each Christmas. Your generosity during "Kettle Time" is so needed and very much appreciated. But, our community needs are great and we humbly ask for your support of our Christmas in july event. Starting with a 5K Run I Walk through Tawawa Park on Saturday, july IS, events continue with church service and an open house on Sunday

followed by Dine to Donate events throughout the week.

Whether it's through a personal or corporate do ­nation or sponsorship. or participation in one of our events, please support Christmas in july and help us to do even more to build a stronger and

more vibrant Sidney and Shelby COlmty.

Chestnut Sewer Replacement: Survey & design underway between Fair Rd 2400’ to Lincoln Ave and between Doorley & Walnut.

WTP Well #2 & #3 Rehab: Ortman Drilling began pump testing and removal this week; rehab completion set for June 30th.

Parkwood/Robinwood Water Main Replacement: Tom’s Construction continues punch list items; final paperwork underway.

Sixth Ave Water Main Replacement: Punch list to be prepared.

YMCA Storm Sewer Improvements: Design to replace existing storm sewer this fall with construction in 2018.
