    Overseas Citizen of India (OCI):

    OCI registered under section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 are also eligible to appear inthis test for the 150 seats available and all terms and conditions applicable for IndianNationals given in this Prospectus will be applicable to them. The candidate will submitproof of Registration as OCI under section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 along with theapplication to be eligible to appear for this test.

    OCIs would be considered for admission only against the Unreserved category.

    NRI / OCI candidates wishing to be considered for seats under Self Financing Scheme arerequired to indicate the same at the stage of application itself. Request to Exercise thisoption at any later stage will not be considered under any circumstances.

    (i) Unreserved (UR) means a candidate who is an Indian national satisfying therequirement of eligibility as prescribed by the Medical Council of India.

    (ii) Other Backward Classes (OBC) Ap pl ies to candidat es wh os e su b cas te tall ie s wi thCentral List of OBC . OBC candidates claiming reservation of seat should not belongto Creamy Layer. OBC Certificate must be in the format as mentioned in the AnnexureIII.

    OBC candidates claiming reservation of seat should not belong to Creamy Layer.The last three years Income Tax Returns of their parents as proof of Non -CreamyLayer status should be produced at the time of counseling along with the originalOBC Certificate to verify the claim of a seat under this category by the Applicant.

    An Income certificate from competent Revenue Authority can be produced in case

    the parents are not filing any income tax. Wherever parents are employed in Government/Public Sector Enterprises, a recent

    certificate from their employer indicating their designati on and class has also to besubmitted for their claim of seat under OBC category.

    (iii) Scheduled Caste / Tribe (SC / ST) - The seats for MBBS course are reserved for thecandidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) as perGovernment Instructions, provided candidates fulfill the minimum admissionrequirements prescribed by the Institute for the purpose. The candidate belonging toScheduled Castes/Tribes are required to furnish certificate from the DistrictMagistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Collector/1st Class StipendiaryMagistrate/Sub Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate/ Extra

    Ad mi ni st ra tor /De ve lo pmen t Of fic er (Lakshdweep is la nds) in su pp or t of the ir cla ims(vide Annexure II). If the certificates are not in English an English translation oftheir caste certificate duly attested by a Gazetted Officer should also beproduced.

    (iv) Puducherry Unreserved (P-UR) means any applicant who is a Puducherry residentand an Indian National with

    (a) Candidate / his or her parents residing continuousl y in the Union Ter ritory ofPuducherry for atleast five years immediately preceding the date of application.

    (b) Children of Central / State Government servants, including employees of PublicSector undertaking under the Central / St ate Government posted and serving in theUnion Territory of Puducherry for at least a minimum period of ONE year prior tothe last date for submission of application.

    (v) Puducherry Other Backward Classes (P-OBC) means a candidate satisfying the aforementioned definitions of categories (ii) as well as iv (a) / (b).

    (vi) Puducherry Scheduled Caste (P-SC) means a candidate satisfying the aforementioned definitions of categories (iii) as well as iv (a) / (b).

    (Vii) OPH Orthopedic Physically Challenged the term is applicable to persons withlocomotor disability confined only to lower limbs between 50% to 70% who would beallowed the benefit of reservation under the Disability Act for admission in the medicinecourses. Orthopaedic Physically Challenged: (3%)

    a) 3% reservations for orthopaedic physically challenged shall be provided on horizontal basis,in the seats available as per their rank in the merit. In case suitable candidates are notavailable from the above three reserved categories and orthopaedically challenged, the vacant

    seats will be filled by the candidates from the general category.b) Other Criteria for Orthopaedic Physically Challenged:The candidate must possess a valid

    document certifying his/her physical disability conforming to judgment of Supreme Court ofIndia i.e.

    (i) With the approval of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India vide letterno. 18018/2/2009-ME (P-1) dated 17.02.2009 it has been decided that while providingreservation in admission to medical course in the first instance candidates withdisability of lower limbs between 50% to 70% shall be considered and in case suchcandidates are not available then candidates with disability of lower limbs between40% to 50% will also be considered for admission subject to the outcome in the WritPetition (Civil) 184/2005- Dr. Kumar Sourav Vs. UOI & others pending in the SupremeCourt of India.

    (b) The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50%marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Bio-technology at thequalifying examination and competitive entrance examination. For candidatesbelonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes /OPH the marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Bio-technology takentogether in the qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination is 40%.

    (c) For OPH candidates in general category the minimum marks taken together in thequalifying examination and competitive entrance examination will be 45%

    (d) The Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination other than thosementioned in the list appended in Annexure I, will have to submit an EligibilityCertificate before admission is finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificatefrom Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi is essential for OCI andForeign Nationals who are nominated by Govt. of India for admission to JIPMERM.B.B.S. Course.

    2. Candidates who fail to obtain the minimum stipulated marks in the qualifyingexamination (Higher Secondary or + 2)

Candidates who have applied under SC/ST Categories shall not be considered underUR Category if they fail to produce valid SC/ST Category Certificate at the time ofcounseling, since they have availed concessional fees. Even if Candidates pay thebalance amount, the application shall not be considered.

    APPLICATION AVAILABILITY

    1) Candidates seeking admission to entrance examination are required to apply on-line.

    2) Log on to link in the Home page www.jipmer.edu.in . and navigate to the link Apply on -line

    MBBS admission 2014.

    3) Read the prospectus and instruction carefully.4) The flow chart for filling application on-line given as Appendix in the Prospectus.

    5) The candidate should acquaint himself/herself with all requirements with regard to filling up

    the application on-line.

    6) Mode of payments are a) Net Banking, b) Credit Card, c) Debit Card

    8) * Instructions for Photograph :a. One (1) recent colour passport size photograph with light background is required. Black

    & White / Polaroid photographs are not acceptable. b. Photograph MUST be taken on or after 31.01.2014.c. Photograph must be taken with name of candidates (as in application) and date of

    taking photograph.

    IMPORTANT Example:a. The photograph must be taken with a placard while the

    placard is being held by the candidate indicating name ofcandidate and date of taking photograph. In case name anddate are written on the photograph after taking it, theapplication will be rejected.

    b. The name and date on the photograph should be legible.

    2. In case the candidate has found an error of entry committed by him/her in theapplication, a new application has to be submitted along with the prescribed fee. The

    2. The process of submission of application On- line is completed only after clicking the submit button after

    Graduate Medical Education & Research retains the final decision on the same and itsallotment.

    If seats for Entrance Exam are unavailable in above chosen 3 exam cities, nearby (exam) Citieswill be considered for venues.

    In case of any unforeseen circumstances the Exam City can be cancelled at any point of timeand a new Exam City can be allotted en bloc with due intimation in newspapers / website.

    HALL TICKETS

    Hall Tickets for the Entrance Examination shall be available for download to candidates whoseapplications are complete in all respects, from 15.05.2014 onwards.

    The hall t icket will contain name and date of birth as typed by the candidate in the application,photo and signature image as uploaded by the candidate, Examination City allotted and rollnumber.

    Change in category / status in the hall t icket will alone be considered for rectification. Written request with copy of the downloaded application and hall ticket and proof of category / status should be

    sent to The Registrar (A cademic), JIPMER, Puducherry-605 006, so as to reach on or before 02.06.2014.JIPMER will not be responsible for postal delay. Request received after 02.06.2014 will not beconsidered.

    Any such change will be done in the hall t icket only on payment of fee`

    1000/- or`

    800/- (as

    applicable) by way of demand draft , drawn in favour of The Accounts O fficer, Puducherry,payable at Puducherry, as for a fresh application.

    Request for rectification / change of any other details in the hall t icket details shall not beconsidered under any circumstances.

    No candidate will be allowed to appear for the Entrance Examination unless he / she holds the Hall Ticketfrom the website of JIPMER.

    ENTRANCE EXAMINATION: Do's and Donts

    1. Candidates should report at the exam venue latest by 07.30 am. Entry to examination hall closes at09:30 AM. No entry will be permitted beyond 09:30 AM under any circumstances. This is to facilitatecompleting all the formalities including Biometrics and Photo capture. Exam starts at 10:00

    AM. Candidate will not be permitted to leave the exam hall before 12:30 PM (i.e. time of close ofexamination)

    2. Carry only Hall Ticket inside the hall. No candidate will be allowed to take the examination withoutproducing the valid Hall Ticket.

    3. The Mode of Examination is On-line based Distributed Object System Examination consisting of 200single best response types multiple choice questions. Test Administration on 08-06-2014 (Sunday).

    4. Biometric authentication through digital device and hard copy of signature and fingerprint inattendance sheet will be taken. Cooperation of the candidate is solicited.

    5. Do not bring any other papers except Hall Ticket. Do not bring cellular phones, calculators, watch

    calculators, alarm clocks, digital watches with built-in-calculators / memory, ear Phones. (Noarrangements will be made by the duty staff for safe keeping and returning the above gadgets ifbrought).

    6. In case any candidate is caught or found to use any means of techno copying he / she shall be liableto be punished by the competent authority.

    7. Use of unfair means /impersonation will lead to summary cancellation of selection / admission.

    8. JIPMER reserves the right to reschedule the date / time of the Examination, depending upon localconditions.

    (1) The examination shall be conducted in ENGLISH medium only .

    (2) The questions for JIPMER MBBS Entrance Examination 2014 will be based on the syllabus as prescribed by StateBoard Hr. Sec. and CBSE for XI & XII Standards.

    (3) On-Line Based Distributed Object System of Examination.

    The Entrance Examination is common to all and consists of 200 single best response type MCQs and willcover all subjects.

    (4) The Entrance Examination will be of multiple choice type questions totaling 200 in the subjects of Physics(60 Marks), Chemistry (60 Marks), Biology (60 Marks) & English (20 Marks). Each answer with correct responseshall be awarded one mark. Zero mark will be given for the question not answered. There is no NEGATIVEMARKING.

    (5) All questions will be of one best / correct response type having four alternatives.

    (6) The response of the candidate for a question(s), on click of submit button before closing of

    Examination shall be considered as the response chosen by the candidate.Links to Mock Test and Candidate Experience video created for applicants to familiarize themselves,

    (Please Read Carefully)

    1. This Admit Card is subject to condition that if ineligibility is detected at any stage, the candidature will becancelled.

    2. Once inside the Examination Centre premises, all candidates will be under surveillance & activities willbe monitored. Hence advised not to indulge into any unlawful activities which will invite disqualification& legal actions.

    3. Candidates must bring ID proof containing clear photograph and signature.

    4. Candidates must also bring a photocopy of the ID proof.

    5. The examination will be a Computer Based Test (CBT) / online. Check the seating plan and Identify theRoom / Lab allotted as per your Hall Ticket number.

    6. Entry to Examination Hall is strictly subject to production of Admit Card and valid Identity Proof.7. Pen / Pencil, Cell phones, I pad, Portable (external) Hard Disk, Pen Drive Data Card, Pagers,

    Calculators, Wrist watches or any electronic devices are strictly prohibited. Violation will lead to expulsionfrom the examination. No arrangements have been made at the centres for their custody.

    8. Do not bring any kind of wrist watches. All kind of wrist watches are strictly prohibited.

    9. Valid ID Proof: Passport / Driving License / Bank Passbook with Photograph / Photo Identify proofissued by a Gazetted Officer / School Principal (on official Letterhead), Aadhar Card with Photographand Domicile Certificate with Photo.

    10. Do not carry any article, except Admit Card, Photocopy of the ID proof and original ID proof to prove youridentity in the examination hall.

    11. Do not attempt to give or obtain irregular assistance of any kind in the examination hall including copyingof questions.

    12. Improper conduct will entail expulsion from the examination.

    13. ANSWERING METHOD:

    Candidates are advised to go through the Mock Test for computer based Test (online examination). Linkfor mock test is available on JIPMERs Website JIPMER MBBS Entrance Examination 2014 link.

    14. Questions that are answered and Marked for Review will be considered as ANSWERED .

    15. For each correct (MCQ) response, one mark will be awarded. No negative marks will be awarded in theincorrect response.

    16. JIPMER reserves all rights to verify identity the genuineness of each candidate by taking thumbimpression and snapshot (photograph) of the candidate or by any other means.

    1. Biometric finger print and image verifications of the candidate will be done before counseling. If there is amismatch, the candidate will not be permitted to attend the counseling apart from proceeding with legal actiondeemed fit by the Institution.

    2. All General candidates securing less than minimum percentile 50, general OPH candidates less than minimumpercentile 45, Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / Other Backward Classes securing less than minimumpercentile 40 in aggregate in the subjects taken together in the Entrance Examination will not be considered foradmission to the Institute and their names will be included in the merit list.

    3. A merit list of all categories of candidates will be drawn on the basis of minimum percentile mentioned above. A separate list for candidates applying under Self Financing Scheme for 5 seats will be drawn from the NRI / OCIapplicants.

    4. Candidates selected against the Physically Handicapped quota will be placed in the appropriate category in whichhe / she belongs (i.e. Unreserved/ Other Backward Classes / Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / PuducherryUnreserved / Puducherry Other Backward Classes / Puducherry Scheduled Caste) on horizontal reservationbasis.     Merit Ranking would be based on percentile.

    The percentile shall be determined on the basis of the average marks obtained by the first top ten candidates

    in the Entrance Examination MBBS 2014.

    Merit List would be drawn category wise based on minimum percentile as given below:

    In order to be eligible for admission to MBBS course at JIPMER, it shall be necessary for a candidate toobtain a percentile of 50 and above in the Entrance Examination. However, in respect of candidates belongingto Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes including OPH, the minimum percentileshall be 40. In respect of Unreserved Orthopedic Physically Challenged (OPH) candidates, 45 shall be theminimum percentile. Candidates who secure less than the minimum percentile in the Entrance Examinationwill not be considered for admission and their names will not be included in the Merit List.

    Only those NRI / OCI candidates who opt for admission under Self Financing Scheme at the time of applicationitself will be considered for the merit list to 5 Seats for NRI/OCI status candidates (vide Sl.No.3 of the application).

    Request for change of Category/Status after notification of Merit List shall not beconsidered under any circumstances.

    Individual letters will not be sent to the selected candidates and to those who are placed in thewaiting list. Please check the website for the lists. They will be required to attend Counseling andMedical Examination at the Institute at their own cost on the notified date . Before entry to the counselinghall, candidates will be subjected to biometric authentication of finger print and image. They have toproduce the original Mark Sheet of the qualifying examination and other original documents mentionedin this Prospectus such as proof of age, Transfer Certificate, Character Certificate, etc. Admission willnot be finalized unless the candidates produce all the original documents and the Transfer Certificate.There will be no allocation of marks for the counseling. Only after due verification of documents,

    biometric data, the provisional admission letters will be issued. Candidate found medically fit by JIPMERMedical Board and subsequently admitted to the course will be required to pay the fees in full in cashimmediately. Also, if eligible candidates, who fulfill the requirements, are not available under OtherBackward Classes / Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe / OPH Category, that vacancy will be filled bythe Unreserved Category.

    To fill the vacancies arising due to the failure of appearance by the selected candidates, sufficientnumber of candidates from the waiting list will also be called for counseling intimating their merit positionin order. Such candidates will have to appear for the counseling on the notified date at their own riskand cost.

Whenthe conduct and character of a student is not satisfactory or is of suspicious or disruptive nature, the Directorreserves the right, without assigning any reason either to make him/her vacate the hostel or to expel him/her fromthe Institute after due payment for damages caused by him/her.

    A student shall conform to a high standard of discipline and shall conduct himself, within and outside the precincts of theInstitute, in a manner befitting the students of an Institution of national importance. He/She shall have the seriousness ofpurpose and shall in everyway, train himself to a life of earnest endeavor and co-operation. He/She shall follow strict

    ethical standards. Under no circumstances he/she will adopt unfair means for competing a component of evaluation in acourse. He/She shall show due courtesy and consideration to the employees of the Institute and Hostels, goodneighborliness to his/her fellow students, respect to the wardens of the Hostel and the teachers of the Institute and paydue attention and courtesy to visitors and patients in the attached hospital divisions of this seat of Medical Learning.

    In order to promote ethical behavior, JIPMER requires every student to agree to abide by the Honour Code. At the timeof admission, every student has to sign the Honour Code. Violations of this code are taken very seriously and may resultin suspension or expulsion. The admission will be withheld if Honour Code applicable to Institute and Hospital relatedactivities is not duly signed and submitted at the time of admission with a copy to the respective department.
