Because narrowboating is an art rather than a science, it’s very easy to pick up and once you’ve mastered the basics, it doesn’t take long to realise just how simple it is!! Handling a boat with a little bit of practice is easy...

Before you set off, our Instructors will give you a full walk-through of the boat, explaining all the facilities on board. They will then give a comprehensive ‘Handover’ to two of your crew, covering Health & Safety, Boat Handling, Canal Etiquette, Lock Operation etc. This is the industry accredited Narrowboat Handover, and all of our bases have been audited to ensure we achieve and maintain the high standard required.

These ‘Showrounds’ are anywhere from twenty minutes to an hour long and aredesigned to enhance YOUR enjoyment.Don’t be afraid to ask as many questionsas you like, or to go over a point as many times as you need. The Instructor will even accompany you a short way if you feel it would be of a benefi t...JUST ASK!! You’ll be asked to sign a “Handover Sheet” before you set off, and there’s an extensive Boat Manual aboard every boat if you need to refresh a point whilst you’re cruising. If you do encounter a problem whilst out on your cruise, our Teams are always on hand to offer assistance over the phone or come out to you if the need arises. This service is available 24

hours a day, so you’ve always got support from Anglo Welsh throughout your holiday.

How long do I need?3-Night Weekend Break, 4-Night MidweekBreak (same price as a 3-Night Weekender!), one week, ten days, a fortnight...a month! You get the picture. Tell the Team what YOU want to do, and they will be more than happy to guide you to the Boat, Base and Cruise that best suits YOUR requirements.

Cruises generally start on Friday, Saturday, Monday or Tuesday, depending on the boat and the holiday you’ve chosen.

We aim to have the boat ready for you for 3pm on your day of departure – it may have only returned from the previous holiday that

morning, and we’ll need time to clean and prepare it for you before your Showround.

Boats must be returned to the base for9am on the fi nal day of your holiday (the afternoon before by arrangement only...ask the Booking Team!) We’ll be on handto help if needed and you’ll have a chanceto let us know all about your holiday.
