McCLELAND’S THEORY OF NEED FOR ACHIEVEMENT: This theory was developed by David McCleland. Focuses on three needs: Achievement, power and affiliation.
Need for Achievement (n-ach): It is the drive to excel, to achieve in relation to a set of
standards. It’s a drive to succeed. The n-ach person is 'achievement motivated' and therefore
seeks achievement, attainment of realistic but challenging goals, and advancement in the job.
EQUITY THEORY
Equity theory: It is also known as ‘Organizational justice’. This theory is a social exchange process theory of
motivation that focuses on the individual environment interaction.
The theory states that individual’s compare their job inputs and outcomes with those of others.
Followed by responding to eliminate any inequities. The structure of equity in the workplace is based on
the ratio of inputs to outcomes.
