You’re Getting Very... Hypnotic
When we heard that the Daniel Bennett Group plays a mix of jazz, folk, and trance, we had to ask for clarification. Bennett said that the group “uses repetitious melodic ideas over cycling chord structures” to create it’s trance sound, but then our mind started to glaze over. You can find out the rest for yourself at 8, when guitarist Chris Hersch and bassist John Servo join Bennett on saxophone at McIntyre and Moore Booksellers. The store will give concertgoers a 15 percent book discount until closing time (11pm). A reception with cookies and cider follows the free, all-ages performance.

Tonight: The Jazz Composers Alliance Orchestra , 18 of Boston's best improvisers, presents "Bad Luck, Death & Taxes" at the Arsenal Center for the Arts in Watertown. A triple bill, featuring Jerry Bergonzi , Daniel Bennett Group, and Quartet of Happiness is at the Cambridge Family YMCA Theatre. Piano great Ahmad Jamal is at the Regattabar. Tomorrow: Pat Metheny and Brad Mehldau at the Opera House. Latin piano powerhouse Eddie Palmieri and trumpeter Brian Lynch join the Harvard Jazz Band at Sanders Theatre.
