For most of us, after a much-deserved break, and delight, it's time to get back to work build-ing, creating... To initiate a smooth transition, we have prepared a comfortable space with stylish desks, from design to more arty. We also took care of the finishes with a theme on toilets, now at the cutting edge of technology; the little detail that is the sign of everyday luxury. We thought of motivation, the impetus to get back into ac-tion; a dream vacation in Marrakesh, at the Villa Zin... a peaceful haven from the crowds; and for those who dream of sailing the seven seas on a yacht, there is the luxury marina of Port Adriano... The more naturally-inclined will enjoy a stroll through the gardens of the Château de Rochecotte... a delight...Last but not least, we wanted to take a position in these times of action... maintaining our atten-tion on the present, gained with much effort over the summer... so as not to lose our good habits, as soon as the brain and wifi are connected, and therefore, with a section on conservatories...let the sun shine in...

Nowadays, the size of our urban living spaces are becoming increasingly smaller, so designers are competing to offer us solutions that are both attractive and func-tional. From BIMODAL, the bed becomes convertible and transforms into a desk when it's time to work. From KANNDE-SIGN, the disguise is wood, with multi-co-loured, interlocking rectangles of oak and beech, and the result is both design and ecologically smart. To optimize a space that lets you work by day and sleep by night in in the same footprint, BIMODAL offers cabinet beds which, when closed become desks that are fully customizable to suit our needs--it's rather clever.

The range of coordinated, custom furni-ture provides an aesthetic unity and high storage capacity, with modular compo-nents. In the Recycled collection by KAN-NDESIGN, the desk comes with shelves made of scrap wood from noble species, in a random pattern, for a steadfastly contemporary effect. Sleek white verticals frame and liberate the horizontals, which are scattered in na-tural colours, functional and natural, this desk space can fit in with different design styles. It's a new working energy in an en-vironment that is both fun and practical, that's what we need to get back to work with a bang.

FOCuS ON DESKS: A WORKShOP SPIRIT...

Inspired by the large industrial workshops of the 19th century, the great names of deco-rating and design are now creating collections with office furniture that is at once modular, mobile, and adjustable. Large table tops on which you can draw, cut, sort, display, share, and discuss The idea is to provide a comfortable and functional atmosphere with furni-ture that is a sound value, including light wood and metal in a mixture of cool and warm colours. SBSEATING illustrates this with easy-going collections with clean, minimalist lines.

The first quality of a desk is to match our lifestyle, so we can work, study or orga-nize a space that is ours and ours alone. Rustic, classic, computer or designer desks, Delamaison has something for

every taste, retro, vintage, and, of course, the basics. And for a fully equipped office, it is important to choose a comfortable chair and spacious office storage, like from SBSEATING.. Objective: using the

desk that resembles us as we see fit... DELAMAISON goes with a spacious table, with square lines for storage. In a living room or en-trance, a more discreet model has its charm, whether it be a roman-tic secretary or a glass console with ethereal lines. Or the workshop version from SBSEA-TING, for a dynamic workspace.

Lighting: The time of excellence...

The full integration of LEDs, the mastery of styles and an appeal to quality set the tone for the trend in lighting for 2014. Majestic, discreet if necessary, at once refined and imposing, environmentally-friendly, and economical; for lighting, the time for excellence has come...

If there was a time when lighting was de-signed around the light bulb, that time not long ago is now gone forever... After a few years of adjustment, the LED revolution has unleashed the creativity of designers, and enabled the use of all materials and all structures. Light is entering the stage of decoration front and centre, becoming a work of art in itself, setting the tone for the atmos-phere of the space. After the first trials of LED lighting, in ultra-modern or almost futuristic styles, lighting trends for 2014 are heading back to older looks, to open up the creative horizon. From EPI Luminaires, the light plays on scrolls behind smoked glass, very tren-

dy this season. The fixture takes on a retro, jazzy, warm look, while remaining on the cutting edge of modernity. With the Serene centre lamp from its Wind-fall collection, Lalique returns to one of its iconic motifs, that of the famous train, the Orient Express. The characters appear to be dancing in a bell jar, in the heart of light. The purity of the crystal gives a magical dimension to the fixture, while remaining clean and refined. From Thierry Vidé, a monumental han-ging lamp, called "Galaxy" illuminates the sky of majestic rooms, while adorning them with a cloud of modernity, thanks to a subtle play of transparency combining simple, geometric shapes.

A sleek, glamorous style...

Between extraordinary creation and tradition, from EPI Luminaires, the chandelier reinvents the magnificence of the baroque chandelier. No more pendants in the latest trend, but the hypnotic play of scrolls and lights that catch the eye, as well as the mind.

FOCuS: hANDCRAFTED LuxuRy...

This breath of freedom in the creation draws inspirations. From Beau et Bien, the "Smoon Brindelight" chandelier, designed by Sylvie Maréchal, is a real light sculpture, finding its sources in nature. The birds, before being formed in polyester, were first designed by hand, in glass, by a glass craftsman. Each one is unique, and dances to its own choreography in this aerial ballet of light.

The bulb and shade resemble a col-lection piece in this new trend. And, if they remain on the stage of decora-tion, they take on a retro look and are reinvented, by the breath of freedom

provided by the use of LEDs. The lamps adapt to every room and at-mosphere. Imposing and majestic in the living room, they become subtle and refined in more intimate settings,

or perfectly ergono-mic in a kitchen. From Osram, "QOD Domi-no," powerful slimline rectangular LED lights help to il luminate work surfaces, over large areas. Modular, available in different lengths, they are easy to up, horizontally or vertically, depen-ding on the lighting needs and layout of the kitchen. Pervasive throughout the room it enters, light is sha-ped at will, much to our delight.

Sonia Provosther 20 years' experience as a stylist in women's and children's ready to wear gave Sonia Provost the impetus to found "Bed and Philosophy" in 2009, so she could express herself in her own textile world. A world marked with a lifelong passion for linens.Bed and Philosophy was therefore born out of this desire and the highly inspiring "spirit of the south," where the company operates."I love natural materials. Flax in particular, reminiscent of the beautiful linen of yesteryear, while being respectful of today's concerns. "Therefore, linen was her first reflex. It perfectly expresses her desire to offer a product that is both authentic and sophisticated. With a wide range of halftone colors (storm, taupe, blue-gray, lilac, etc.) the collection is expanded from time to time with fashionable colors found in ready to wear collections and which we want to bring into our design (twilight and stabilot red...) as well as innovative materials like jersey and suit-style wool...It's a new idea of linens for children and adults.

Raphael ContessoAfter five years of studies, a year in Germany, a 4L raid in the Moroccan desert, and a degree in architecture that left him unsatisfied, he began training as a cabinetmaker, in order to learn how to master the material and all the scales of architecture and design: from the city to the teaspoon!"I dream in my head, I draw by hand, I correct on my computer, and I make with my tools" ... a nice motto for a young architect-designer-carpenter of just 23 years.he opened his studio in the back country of Nice - perhaps to get some distance from the soulless mass produced furniture - where he designs, cuts, sands, polishes, and assembles furniture straight out the designer's dreams, where the object, beautiful and functional, must be accessible to as many people as possible! That's partly why he opened his shop on Etsy: so his work can be discovered outside France.

A hostile vision

of the environment

It's true that the major events of the

era, as well as the cultural headliners,

are chilling. In 1983, it was "Star Wars,"

for real: Ronald Reagan launched the

"Strategic Defense Initiative." Against

the backdrop of global insecurity and

oil-shock, purchasing power declined...

Coluche took time out from making

us laugh to move us in "So Long,

Stooge," Isabelle Adjani was mes-

merizing in "One Deadly Summer,"

Rambo brought out the big guns, and

u2 released its famous album: "War"...

Even Louis de Funes was no longer

there to cheer up the troops... Fortu-

nately, some kept dancing. 1983 was

also the year of "Flashdance" and Mi-

chael Jackson's "Beat It" and "Thriller."

After some enthusiastic years, with our eyes fixed on a scheduled, then un-

expected or completely delusional future, 1983 marked a turning point in the

ways of understanding the world, with, dare we say, the flood of a wave of fear

in some minds... Design is in good shape, placed on the forefront of the stage.

It triggered the start of a trend that would mark several decades and is still very

present in our homes today...

The premise of the virtual

opening of the home

In 1983, Steve Jobs spoke at the

international design conference in As-

pen. he predicted, among other things,

wireless communications, the growing

use of computers, and he announced

his plans to create a computer as easy

to carry as a book, and intuitive to use.

A profound lifestyle change was in the

works. The boundary between interior

and exterior was beginning to soften.

The world started coming into the

home. A new ideal and then a new

reality began to emerge: "browsing"

the planet from home...

"Cocooning"

It was the futurist Faith Popcorn who,

in the late 70s, predicted the "stay-at-

home-syndrome," which she dubbed

"cocooning." Prevailing discussions,

centered on insecurity, promoted this

trend, which indeed emerged in the

early 80s and gave rise to a new

way to build and decorate your

interior. We doubled back, with a

sense of security, in a known soft,

and comfortable place. Pastel tones,

soft fabrics, cushy sofas, rugs, cushions

and furs are the highlights of this trend,

which encourages one to remain, eyes

half-closed, between dream and reality.

Cocooning today?

Today, the butterfly is still not out of

the cocoon. Except for some low cost

travel abroad at set times, the majority

of working people have not looked up

from their computers to get out and ex-

perience the world, in a real body... Co-

cooning has some good times ahead

of it. however, the alarmist predictions

about the individualistic withdrawal of

Man, supposed to cut himself off more

and more from his social environment,

they forgot to take into account the

herd instinct ... "hiving" may now re-

place cocooning. This convivial trend,

where cohabitation and new patterns of

mutual aid have their place, promotes

social and generational connections.

Living inside, yes, but all together

under one roof!

Conservatories: welcoming light into the home...

At a time when we leave the summer and its delights behind us, the conservatory inspires... And what if we could extend our outdoor living? The conservatory, now comfortable, secure, and accessible has many advantages and introduces a new way of life...

Whether for comfort, dreaming or even economics, there always seems to be a good reason to opt for this new type of de-velopment ... Technological solutions have freed this space of its drawbacks, and now the conservatory is poised to become an essential part of the home. If in the old days, the conservatory primarily offered esthetic benefits and guaranteed the en-joyment of moments of pleasure during warmer seasons, today's materials and con-struction technologies can ensure comfort and well-being throughout the year. Double glazing with integrated air conditioning, such as those offered by AGC Glass protect the conservatory from the cold in wintertime, due to low heat loss, and ward off the heat in summertime, by keeping some of the

solar radiation on the outside. This type of glazing lets in all the full spectrum of light and provides a solution that is as environ-mentally-friendly as it is economical. Only the excess heat is kept outside in summer, while the heat penetrates into the conser-vatory in winter. From Concept Alu, the "Skylight" model features a roof composed of self-cleaning windows, which regulates heat gain from the sun, lets us get back in touch with the marvelous light through the openings in the ceiling. "Lumisol,"a system remote-controlled shutter roof system con-nected to the roof, lets you control the sun coming in. "Brisoletto," a system of blades with progressive pivoting, adjustable by remote control, filters the sunlight, allows sumptuous plays of shadow and light...

Maybe you've seen, on the roof of a luxury hotel, a sumptuous canopy with a swimming pool and spa, offering stunning views of the countryside and promising moments of incomparable delight... the original luxury... Open your eyes, you are home... Today, this dream of wellness is available... The conservatory, now com-pletely insulated, enables our cravings for an indoor pool or spa. From Veranda Rideau, the "Serenity" mod-el offers a heated, insulated, and well-ven-tilated space for you to enjoy the benefits of the water, in peace. We bet the spa will become a part of our lifestyle... And if you don't know where to put this wellness space, that's another good reason to install

a conservatory... Because expanding your house without a building permit, and at a lower cost, without major masonry work, is now possible... It's even one of the main reasons for the building a conservatory.

From Verancial, the "Extens'K" lets you set up a modular , scalable, and green exten-sion of your living space. Three models of extensions, with a contemporary look, have been dreamed up by the studio Diedre Design. Thanks to the many open-ing options (corner sliding, sliding brick par-tition, etc.) and shading options (rolling shutters, sliding shutters, etc.) the space becomes an open terrace, or a cozy nest for the winter.

FOCuS: ANOThER WAy TO BuILD...

Much more than a simple extension, this new space offers new solutions for construc-tion and additions. The whole house is reinvented, thanks to the many opportunities the conservatory offers. Allowing ample light to enter, it's a huge window open to the outside. Joining two spaces or placed at an angle, adaptable to all dimensions, the con-servatory brings in light and offers a new way of living at home, to be defined according to the desires of each individual...

If this new room, halfway between inside and outside, sometimes sparks controver-sial reactions, such as the idea that it can be frustrating to be outside without actually being there, and therefore it is best to opt for a patio rather than an enclosed conser-vatory, those visionaries who have taken the leap, no longer seem able to live else-

where than in this new part of their home... Imagine living in a place that is fully open to the light, offering an unlimited horizon, no walls... More light and freedom... at home. Far from being a space confined between two dimensions, interior and exterior, the conservatory has had its own identity since its inception, including the Crystal Palace

in London, and later the Grand Palais in Paris. It was then reserved for museums and painters, in search of light. Born of an artistic vocation, large glass openings, support-ed by metal structures, evoke a whole world that encourages contempla-tion. Today, to our delight, you don't need to be an artist to enjoy the beauty and the energy created by the solid inner light, every day...

FOCuS: DESIGN AND COLORED LIDS...

humor and creativity have always been welcomed in this place, which crystallizes many nega-tive false notions. A breath of lightness, color, and space sweeps away, preconceptions, moralistic dichotomies. The important thing remains; being well and taking care of yourself. From Wirquim, a collection of vibrant, colored lids bring good cheer to the toilet. Some humor, an artistic flair or Zen spirit will be easy to integrate with these lids that are installed in no time.

What do you want to find in this intimate place? What would be luxurious? Comfort,

so that body movements are easy, free. Cleanliness, and even a pleasant feeling of

purity. Softness, to feel good. Calm, so it is easy, regardless of our age and condition, to take care of our body alone... Toilets, in 2014, take care of our little tasks for us. From Geberit, the AquaClean toilet is wall-mounted, all rounded, self-cleaning ... It includes a spray of warm water for softness, perfectly posi-tioned for maximum, easy hygiene. From Viega, chil-dren and elderly gain au-tonomy, thanks to an inge-nious system that lifts and lowers the seat that adapts to each user, gently...

The Rochecotte Château dominates the Loire Valley… From the terrace, an enchanting landscape unfolds before our eyes: the river, vineyards, forests, châteaus, and gardens, such as the Château d'ussé, the inspiration for "Sleeping Beauty," come together wonderfully.

This place is unique because we are greeted by a magnificent, regal cedar that is some 2 centuries old.Anyone who goes to the château entrance is touched by the beauty of this majestic, imposing tree, gracefully spreading its branches before the main entrance to the château.

What if cardboard stronger than we thought? That's what Cartawan designer, yannick Delavau wants to shout, loud and clear, with his 100% cardboard, 100% attractive creations. And speaking of resilience, the chairs, for example, can stand up to a weight of 1,200 kg. Often wrongly judged as fragile and cheap, cardboard is used here as a robust, stylish material, dressed with other materials to make it unique. Cardboard's no longer disposable!
