Sviluppo Como – ComoNExT Spa
STORIA DEL LUOGO
1880 The passenger railway line from Milan to Como through Lomazzo was converted into a full size railway;
1895 Mr. Francesco Somaini built a cotton spinning mill
with a direct connection to that railway; 1905 The mill was extended and employed more than 1000 people.
The site included residence buildings for the workers, schools and many facilities;
1970 The cotton mill went out of business. Only some parts were
still used by other little manifactures until 2002.
UNA NUOVA VITA
2004 the Chamber of Commerce of Como focused a priority:
PROMOTE INNOVATION to SUSTAIN LOCAL ECOMOMY Industry, craftsmanship, trade, tourism, agriculture
and the old mill was identified as the best place to restructure. 2007 ComoNExT Scpa was founded. 2010 the first part of the plant was opened to innovative companies
