Keeping in the credit union tradition of “people helping people,” Municipal Credit Union also reported its conti- nuation and explanation of its philanthropic efforts throughout the New York City area. “MCU never loses sight of our responsibility to give back to the communities we serve,” Brantley said, going on to discuss MCU’s sponsorship of the St. John’s Civil Service Appreciation Day, honoring “Hometown Heroes” in education and transit and advocating for the rights of credit union members across the country through supporting the “Don’t Tax My Credit Union” initiative.

Both Brantley and Wong also reported significant efforts made by MCU to engage in youth initiatives, including a partnership with the United Federa-tion of Teachers to host the second annual Youth Empowerment Day, and partnering with the Frederick Douglass Academy and Make the Grade Foun-dation to build the first ever student run online radio station. Municipal Credit Union also supported the young people within our communities by donating more than $82,500 dollars in scholarships.
