MEANINGLESS GOALS
A farmer had a dog that used to sit by the roadside waiting for vehicles to come around.
As soon as one came he would run down the road, barking and trying to overtake it.
One day a neighbour asked the farmer "Do you think your dog is ever going to catch a
car?" The farmer replied, "That is not what bothers me. What bothers me is what he
would do if he ever caught one."
Many people in life behave like that dog who is pursuing meaningless goals.
Life is hard by the yard,
but by the inch,
it's a cinch.

Dear Parents,
I wish to congratulate our school children for their wonderful turn - out at the ANZAC
DAY parade last Saturday. They were beautifully presented and engaged in the spe-
cial significance of the event.
The next couple of weeks are going to be very busy at school. The NAPLAN tests
commence on Tuesday, 12 May 2015 and conclude on Thursday, 14 May 2015. We
try to instill in the children that these tests are not something to stress or be afraid of
but rather a chance for them to do their best. Parents are asked to give their chil-
dren positive encouragement about the tests and please ensure that your child has a
good night’s sleep before each test and a healthy breakfast each morning.
On next Friday, 8 May, we will be hosting the Mother’s Day Liturgy and morning tea
at 10.30 a.m. All mums and grandmothers are cordially invited to attend and enjoy a
celebration of this great day. It would be great if you could bring a plate of treats to
share with other mums.

Nepal Appeal
Dear Friends,
Imagine a thousand blankets, sleeping bags and tents being donated by the generous people of Toowoom-
ba and the wider region!
I was privileged recently to meet with members of Toowoomba’s Nepalese community. For those of you
who don’t know, they number over 400 and can be found in the fields of education, local government,
healthcare and hospitality (just to name a few). They are gentle people and hardworking people, but right
now their hearts are breaking for what is happening back home. So here’s where you come in.
1) You can donate directly to the Nepalese Association of Toowoomba. 'Account Name - Nepalese
Association of Toowoomba BSB - 064 459 Account Number - 10336912
Reference - MYNEP - then your name
2) Donate sleeping bags, tents and blankets. The local Nepalese community will make sure these
items get to those most in need. If you wish to donate these, please drop to Sofra Turkish Cuisine
164 Margaret Street Toowoomba during the day or evening 7 days a week. Come on Toowoomba
region let’s see how many sleeping bags and tents and blankets we can send to this beautiful corner
of the world. Each family, workplace, school can do their bit. Ideally new items would be best but
please ensure that all donations are clean and in good working order.
3) And speaking of Sofra, the wonderful Irfan and Moyalia and their loyal staff will be opening their
hearts and kitchen and restaurant to you this Sunday (3rd May). From noon until evening there will be
a fund raising lunch at Sofra. There will be Nepalese music and guest speakers. 100% of money
raised will go to the local Nepalese Association to help those in need.
4) You can also donate to one of the major humanitarian aid organisations already working in Ne-
pal. Caritas currently has workers on the ground in Nepal and you can find out how to donate by go-
ing to http://www.caritas.org.au/learn/emergency-response/nepal-earthquake-appeal
