ebIX® Business Requirements for Measure Calorific Value 4

ebIX® September, 2015

A. About this document This document contains ebIX® Business Requirements for the processes regarding the exchange of

calorific value for gas.

As a general introduction ebIX® has published a separate document “Introduction to ebIX® Business

Requirements and Business Information Models” (see [4]). The introduction also includes the generic

model elements that are not specific for a particular business process.

In line with UN/CEFACT Modeling Methodology version 2 (UMM-2) ebIX® defines the business

requirements before starting the actual modeling. Given the input from the ebIX® gas work group,

the requirements have been specified by the ebIX® work group “Exchange Metered Data” and are

the basis for the Business Information Model which is published in a separate document.

The Business Information Model is in turn the basis for the creation of XML schema’s and is expected

to be the basis for the specification of web services in a next version of the model document. Since

ebIX® supports both Edifact and XML the model will also serve as the basis for the creation of

Message Implementation Guides for the mapping to Edifact UNSM’s. The Business Information

Model and the syntax specific structures are specified by the ebIX® “Technical Committee” (ETC).

A.1. Comments to the ebIX® model If you have comments or suggestions to the model please contact any member of the project group

or directly to Kees Sparreboom, [email protected] .

1. Introduction Calorific Value is established by means of a gas chromatograph at a Reception Station (which is a

physical installation) and the value is exchanged per Aggregated Reception Station (which is an

administrative entity consisting of one or more Reception Stations).

Below an overview of the relevant options in topology with regard to (Aggregated) Reception

Stations is presented.

This picture is a simplified representation of the most essential elements regarding calorific value.

Actual implementations will vary, but also can be described along the lines represented above.

In the information exchange the calorific value is established either per Aggregated Reception Station

or per Calorific Value Area. Which entity is used is to be decided on the basis of national rules.

2. Business Requirements View: Measure Calorific Value

2.1. Recalculate Calorific Value (Business Process UseCase)

Figure 1. Recalculate Calorific Value

2.1.1. Description UseCase description: Recalculate Calorific Value

definition Providing established calorific value by a Calorific Value Calculator (which

often is the TSO or DSO) to a Supplier or DSO (in its capacity of Calorific

Value Calculator) in the gas sector. The Calorific Value is established in a

series of (re-)calculations.

beginsWhen The Calorific Value Calculator decides to or when requested.

preCondition Input data for calorific value from the TSO are made available to the

Calorific Value Calculator for (re-)calculation. The procedure for

(re-)calculation follows national rules.

Partners responsible for the execution of the processes should have access

to relevant master data.

endsWhen The established calorific value has been made available to the Energy

Supplier or DSO.

postCondition Supplier or DSO has received the established calorific value.

definition The Calorific Value Calculator sends Established Calorific Value to the

Supplier and/or to the DSO.

decides to, or

when the (national) time schedule prescribes him to

when requested by the other party.
