For more than 30 years A Zeta Gomma, in the heart of the ceramic district of Sassuolo, has been an invaluable reference point for the most diverse productive sectors ranging from big industry to small businesses. This company, a European leader in the distribution of transmission belts, notched and thermo-weldable belts and all types of conveyor belts, stands out for its exceptional versatility and quick response service, with more than 60,000 items in stock, ensuring that every need can be promptly satisfied. The new facility, in Via Radici in Piano, extends across a covered surface area of ten thousand square metres. The company has grown steadily since it was founded in 1973, by strengthening its leadership in Italy, where it can count on more than 3,000 customers. Furthermore, it is in constant expansion paying increasing attention to overseas markets which today represent more than 20 % of its turnover. M.E.C. Timing Polyurethane Belt

The M.E.C. TIMING POLYURETHANE BELT are made of polyurethane with high resistance steel or Kevlar inserts. The combination of these quality materials allows the manufacture of timing belts which are precise in terms of dimensions and pitch. The belts can be supplied open-ended, sleeve cut or produced using FLEX technology (special development without any joints).

Rolled polyurethane timing belts are used in transmissions where products with limited tolerance and abrasion and oil resistance are required, with even profile (thickness, metal insert positioning, notch shape) and good flexibility.

This trademark stands out for the particularly sophisticated transmission belts such as polyurethane timing belts which at present, represent the latest generation of positive belts. Their particular structure and the materials used offer avant- garde performances of transmissible power and dimensional precision.

Timing belts in polyurethane are used in transmissions where products of limited tolerance and particular characteristics are required. Their main characteristics are as follows: resistance to friction and oil, evenness of profile

(thickness, positioning of metal insert, notch shape), good flexibility. Double-sided continuous belts (type T2,5 - T5 - T10 - AT5 - AT10) are produced with steel or Kevlar cord.

PLATES FOR BELTS WITH METRIC PITCH

Polyurethane high torque timing belts are used in transmissions where products with limited tolerance and abrasion and oil resistance are required, with even profile (thickness, metal insert positioning, notch shape) and good flexibility. The M.E.C. FLEX belts, with special length, embody all the best characteristics of polyurethane belts. Furthermore, the internal cord in steel or kevlar is the best solution for meeting the requirements of the highest operating stress conditions. Using special processes, the internal cord can also be in stainless steel for operations which involve contact with water or oxidizing liquids. FLEX belts can also be manufactured applying a fibreglass cloth both on the internal diameter of the belt (PAZ) and on back of the belt (PAR).

FLEX PAZ: with the notch covered in order to improve meshing with the pulley and to obtain better sound proof levels.

FLEX PAR: the belt is covered on the back in order to reduce friction with the external surface.

Polyurethane belts of special length can be made, with ring closure using a hot vulcanization procedure on the required length of open-ended belts. However, it should be remembered during the design stage that jointed belts have approximately 50% of the load capacity of the original belt.

Coatings can be applied on the back of belts in polyurethane or other materials including para rubber, rubber, linatex, etc. by means of vulcanisation. The polyurethane coatings can be moulded, if a die is available, or hot vulcanized with moulds produced on machine tools.

MEC SPLICING MACHINE is an integrated system of pressing and punching which assists the operator during all stages which are required for the correct execution of the splicing.

JOINT WARRANTYthe success of joints is always guaranteed if only MEC TIMING BELTS are used. This is due to the fact that all the procedures and parameters supplied with the press have been specially designed on the polyurethane used in the production of MEC TIMING belts.If other materials are used, A ZETA GOMMA declines all liability for the poor success of the joint.

M.E.C. SPLICING MACHINE

A Zeta Gomma’s strategy has always been aimed at ensuring that high quality products are immediately available. These objectives are reached through the company maintaining a vast stock which together with the various service levels, makes these products available to our clients when and where they are needed. In light of this strategy, together with the efficient assistance and assembly service, the R&D department of A Zeta Gomma has developed a series of technologically advanced equipment that has culminated in the MEC WELDER (automatic welder for MEC POLBELT belts) and the most recent innovation, the MEC SPLICING MACHINE, a unique tool which allows a complete joint cycle to be carried out for any type of timing belt in PU.

PUNCHING TECHNIQUEThrough the designated die, incorporated into the tool, the belt is cut into the classic square shape. Pressure is exerted through a cylinder actuated manually by the operator.

WELDINGThe ends of the belt are inserted into a splicing mould, which can vary depending on the different pitch, and will then be placed into the press. The pressure required for correct welding will be applied according to the splicing table while a digital manometer will help the operator apply the right force to the cylinder. The MEC SPLICING MACHINE is equipped with an electrical panel which independently controls the individual platens so that the correct splicing temperatures can be set.

COOLINGThe MEC SPLICING MACHINE is supplied complete with an automatic water cooling system. This cooling system is vital in ensuring the success of the joint, It is controlled by the electrical panel which activates the automatic start up of the cooling operation once the set temperature is reached. The highly automated MEC SPLICING MACHINE, both in the welding and cooling phases, allows numerous consecutive joints to be made without the continuous presence of the operator, who in the meantime, can perform other tasks, thus saving time and costs.

EXCERPT FROM GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS

All customer orders are subject to the General Terms and Conditions of Sale, the provisions of which will apply to all supplies unless agreed otherwise by the parties, and must be set out in writing failing which they will be invalid. The agreed provisions must also be stated on the order and order confirmation form.Some of the important provisions of the Terms and Conditions are set out below (for the full document see www.azetagomma.com). The buyer is defined as the “Buyer” and A Zeta Gomma F.I. spa is defined as the “Seller” or “Supplier”.

PRICES:Unless agreed otherwise in writing, the sale prices in force on the date of the order and order confirmation form will apply. Returned goods must be sent, carriage paid, to the warehouse of A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa, with packaging costs to be paid by the customer.

COST AND RISK OF TRANSPORT:The cost and risk of transport are borne by the customer.The goods are always shipped at the sole risk of the buyer, even if (by special arrangement) the sale is agreed free to destination. TERMS OF DELIVERY:A delivery date is confirmed in writing is only considered an indication and is never binding. The seller is always exempt and excluded from any liability for any loss or claim that may derive from events caused by the early or late delivery of all or part of the supplies. Where the delay is attributable to the Seller, claims for compensation may only be made for supply contracts in which a penalty clause has been expressly agreed.The amount of compensation may never exceed the value of the supplies, under any circumstances. The customer must accept the ordered products even if the delivery is late.

CONFORMITY:A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa guarantees the conformity of all products supplied, i.e. they will matchthe quantity, quality and type described in the contract, which is the order subsequently accepted with a valid order confirmation form.

TOLERANCE:The above provisions on product conformity must allow for the usual tolerance on manufactured products.

COMPLAINTS AND DEFECTS:Any non-conformities detected by the buyer must be reported promptly in writing (failing which the complaint will be invalid) in order to allow A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa to respond quickly and/or find a rapid solution to the complaint, if valid. LIABILITY:The supplied goods must be used as intended, in accordance with the product characteristics, as no liability can be accepted for any claims caused by damage due to improper or incorrect use of the goods.

RETURNS:Returned goods will not be accepted unless agreed in advance, in writing.Any requests for substitute materials will only be accepted under the following conditions (except for verified non-conformity issues):1) The supplied materials must be standard, with no specific construction or processing techniques or other special requirements fulfilled at the customer’s request.2) The request must be sent to the supplier within two months of delivery. Once the returns have been authorised, the goods must be accompanied by a delivery note indicating the details of the order. Goods must be returned carriage paid, in excellent condition. Returns will only be accepted at the sole discretion of A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa. In all cases in which returned goods are accepted, A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa will issue a credit note to the value of the supplies, less 15% of the total by way of flat-rate reimbursement of expenses.

PAYMENTS:- Methods of payment. Payments and other monies due to A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa for any reason must be paid, net, in accordance with the agreed terms and sent to the supplier’s domicile. Payments or direct remittances to agents, representatives or auxiliaries of A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa will not be deemed received until such time as they are materially available to A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa as agreed in the order.-Terms. Delays or irregularities in all or part of the agreed payment will entitle the supplier (after giving written notice) to suspend supplies or terminate pending contracts for new or different products, even if the payments relate to other sales. The right to compensation for damages is reserved. Delays in payments caused by failure to comply with the agreed terms will automatically trigger the application of late payment interest (Italian Law 231/2002).Customers who have defaulted on payment may not make a claim against the supplier before having first paid all outstanding amounts in full. The supplier has the right of reimbursement in the case of any dispute or disagreement. RESERVATION OF TITLE:The delivered products will remain the property of A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa until the price has been paid in full, in cases where all or part of the payment is to be made after delivery. In the case of a dispute and/or non-payment of even part of the price, A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa may ask for the goods or products to be returned to its head office, by sending a written demand by registered post or certified email. The goods must be returned within 10 days from receipt of the request.

GOVERNING LAW AND FORUM:The supply agreement is governed by the laws of Italy.The court with sole jurisdiction is the court in the place of domicile of A Zeta Gomma Forniture Industriali Spa, which may however take legal action in the courts of the buyer’s domicile.
