DANASAYS

In the spirit of the holiday season, this issue of the Mecum Monthly has some great images from this year’s auctions for all to enjoy. Everything from Harley Earl to Hot Rods and all the smiles in between, it has truly been a great year. We sincerely appreciate everyone who bought and sold with us this year which helped mark another record-breaker for Mecum Auctions hammering nearly $134 million SOLD in 2010! We closed out the year with incredible enthusiasm as we filledKansas City’s Bartle Hall with 650 cars and a 70% sell through as we continue full steam ahead to 2011 with our fastest growing event and now the largest collector car auction in January. Have I mentioned that was “East of the Mississippi” in January? With 1750 vehicles to choose from, there’s certain to be something for everyone in Kissimmee this year. On behalf of everyone at Mecum Auctions, I wish everyone safe travels and happy holidays and look forward to outstanding Mecum Moments in 2011.

Mecum Auctions has been specializing in the sale of collector cars for over 23 years, and has become America’s largest Collector Car Auction Company offering nearly 5,000 vehicles per year. “The Kissimmee Auction is Mecum’s fastest growing event as witnessed by the huge success of last year’s auction, which boasted a very high sell-through rate, more than 4,000 registered bidders and total sales over $25 million,” said President Dana Mecum. “We already see the momentum building for an even more impressive turn out at this year’s event, and it’s all taking place East of the Mississippi – it’s where the cars are.” Because of

TIM PHILLIPS has been intrigued by helping people buyand sell collector cars ever sincehisfirstMecumAuctionover seven years ago. A full-time auctioneer since the early 1980s, Tim started working for Mecum when another bidder’s assistant became ill just before an auction. During his tenure with Mecum, Phillips has helped people from all over the world buy cars and enjoys working unique auction events such as last year’s ‘57 Heaven Collection. When asked about his favorite aspect of working for Mecum Auctions, Tim mentioned, “The entire Mecum crew consists of good people that work together like one big family.” M

RAY LONDON and the vehicle coordination team came together by what some might consider “fate”, or others might say, “It wasmeanttobe”.WhileattendinghisfirstMecumAuctionwithaclose friend in New York, tragedy struck. It was September 11, 2001, all planes were grounded and the event staff was unable to reach the auction site. As a lifelong car lover, Ray eagerly volunteered to help coordinate cars and assist in any way he could. Ray’s spirit and enthusiasm and recent retirement from pharmaceutical sales made it a natural for London to go on the road with Mecum, and he did just that. “I’ve made lifelong friends over the last 10 years, and look forward to going to every auction.” M
