I respectfully request and recommend that your Honorable Body approve of thefollowing Amendments to Revised Ordinances entitled, “Compensation Plan and LeaveOrdinances,” Chapter 66, “Personnel”: 

CITY OF MEDFORD AMENDMENT TO REVISED ORDINANCES

COMPENSATION PLAN AND LEAVE ORDINANCESCHAPTER 66, PERSONNEL

BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Medford in Chapter 66 entitled“Personnel” Article II entitled “Classification and Compensation Plans” Section 66.35entitled “Public Works Personnel” and Section 66.36 (b)entitled “Building Services

Personnel” are hereby amended as follows: 

Section 1. In subsection 66.35 effective June 30, 2013, add two and one-half percent(2.5%) of the present amount of each step within the grades shown below, to the said present amount of each step and adjust the sum thus obtained to the nearest and highestfigure for each grade: PW-23; PW-22.5; PW-22:PW-21; PW-20; PW-19; PW-18; PW-17; PW-16; PW-15; PW-14; PW-13; PW-12; PW-11; PW-10; PW-9; PW-8; PW-7; PW-6; PW-5.5; PW-5; PW-4 and PW-3.

Section 2. The claimant, Julian S. Sanders, age 45, 143 Quitman Street, Newark, NJ 07108 seeksCompensation for injuries suffered as a result of a sidewalk defect, namely, ice located near 303Park Street in Medford, Massachusetts. His injury occurred on February 7, 2011 atapproximately 8:00 p.m. As a result of his fall, he sustained acute lateral chest wall/ribcontusions, acute right trapezius muscle pain and stiffness, and acute right lumbar musculature pain and stiffness. He was treated at Lawrence Memorial Hospital as well as RiversideChiropractic Center. His medical bills were in excess of $3,855.00 The necessary Release has been obtained from the claimant.
