Council President, Paul A. Camuso, called the Seventeenth Regular Meeting of the Medford City Council to order at 7:00 P.M. at the Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium, Medford City Hall.

14-401 LOCATION OF POLES, ATTACHMENT OF FIXTURES AND UNDERGROUND

You are hereby notified that by order of the Medford City Council, a Public Hearing will be given at the Howard F. Alden Memorial Auditorium, 85 George P. Hassett Drive, City Hall, Medford, Massachusetts at 7:00 P.M., on TUESDAY, May 6, 2014 on a petition by National Grid of Malden, MA., and

Verizon New England for permission to locate poles, wires, and fixtures including the necessary sustaining and protecting fixtures, along and across the following public way: Boston Avenue; National Grid to install 1 JO Pole beginning at a point approximately 74 feet North of the centerline of the intersection of Warner St. and Boston Ave. National Grid to install 1 JO Pole (P5293-3) on the side of the road at 574 Boston Ave., and install 2-4” conduit from new (P5293-3) approximately 8’ to the property line of 574 Boston Ave
Wherefore it prays that after due notice and hearing as provided by law, it be permission to excavate the public highways and to run and maintain underground electric conduits together with such sustaining and protecting fixtures as it may find necessary for the transmission of electricity. Said underground conduits to be located substantially in accordance with the plan filed herewith marked National Grid. – 15761207 dated 02/24/2014
Approved – Chief Engineer –Upon review of this petition, the Engineering Department finds no issue with the installation, the work can proceed forthwith provided the following requirements are met; No City Owned or private utilities or other structures are adversely impacted. National Grid shall ensure that all sewer, water and drain lines are marked prior to any excavation. Before beginning work the contractor shall notify Dig Safe and shall obtain applicable permits from the Engineering Division. National Grid shall complete all restoration in accordance with City of Medford regulations and standards as well as for removing all debris related to its work. Cold Patch Repair is not acceptable

MOTIONS, ORDERS AND RESOLUTIONS
14-412-Offered by Councillor Marks Be It Resolved that the Medford City Council honor Medford Vocational students for winning Best Commercial Application for their Full Service Bar with two stools and electric TV stand at the 4th Annual Eco-Carpentry Challenge. The challenge, tasked students from throughout Massachusetts with creating new products using gently used furniture donated by local corporations. Students had five months to design and create their entries.

14-413-Offered by Councillor Marks Be it resolved that Medford Tree Warden , Aggie Tuden, and local volunteers be thanked for donating their time during this years Annual National Arbor Day event to improve the landscaping around Medford High School.
