PowerPoint has good but limited media capability

Good:

It supports most types of audio and video.

Limited: 1. Precise timing is difficult to achieve.

2. Media files are stored separately from the presentation file.

File Size

• Any media file that is less then 100 kb can be embedded into the ppt file.

• Files greater must be linked.

Note: You can change the 100kb limit, but things may run a bit slower.

So, how do you do it?

1. Make sure all your media files are saved in the same folder as your presentation.

2. Select the ‘insert’ ribbon.

3. Select video or audio from the far right.

4. Select your file.

Reminder

• When you go “insert sound”, you are giving PowerPoint directions from your presentation to the sound.

• If you move either of them, your directions will be wrong and your sound won’t work.

Music Video (Mini Project)

Learning Goals:

1. You will know how to include audio and video in a ppt presentation.

2. You will practice making everything in the show support your message. (The song is your message)

Your Job

• Create a music video for a song. Your video should include both pictures and video.

• All pictures and videos need to enhance the message/lyrics of the song.

Explanation

• On the last slide of your video choose two of you pictures or videos and explain how they enhance the lyrics of the song at that point.

Success Criteria

1. You have used a variety of entrance, exit and transition animations.

2. You have audio, video and images in your slideshow.

3. You can explain how every image, video and animation enhances the lyrics of your song.
