What is the Media Patrol?• Recruited special team of Scouts with skills and interests in communication disciplines.• Established to cover the 2015 Liberty Jamboree.• Modeled after BSA National Jamboree’s “Patrol Z.” • Cover = Generate content that captures the event for

others to understand and enjoy (both during & after.)• Content = Photos, video, tweets, blog posts.• Other Role: Assist professional journalists at Jamboree.• Post-Jamboree: Media Patrol will morph into Council’s

official corps of journalists who cover various events.• Members of the Jamboree Media Patrol are pre-qualified

for membership in the Council’s permanent group.

Jamboree Basics

• Lots of people, activities, physical space, confusion and real-time decisions.• At all times, you must:– Be flexible and resourceful.– Follow your instructions / assignments.– Let us know where you are at all times on Saturday.*– Report any issues / problems immediately.

• Be very selective in the content you produce.– Seeking high quality, not quantity.

• Make sure that you enjoy the Jamboree!

Content Creation Guidelines• Capture content that tells a story.• Get up close & personal. People not things. • Be creative. Be discrete. Don’t pose subjects.• Focus on action / movement / emotion.• Frame your shot. Cut out the fat.• Posts: Don’t be too wordy.• “Names make News”• Get names / troop # / town if appropriate.

• Content Managers / Freelancers (Media HQ)– Help to review, approve and distribute content.– May be re-assigned depending on immediate needs.
