2. Introduction This is going to be an evaluation on the components of a music magazinethat I created they are the front cover, contents page and a double pagespread my chosen genre for this magazine is the rock genre, I researchedthe other magazines that are currently in production as I knew that this isa genre that will have some tough competition so I looked at the othermagazines and used their colour schemes that were similar to each otheranyway and I created one myself based on the other ones. I also madenotes on how the layout was used on them. 3. Techniques There is multiple ways in which the music magazine I created uses the current techniquesthat other magazines use in the same genre as mine (rock) these are the colour schemesof the rock magazines that I analysed were very similar and I also used a colour schemethat was in line with those other magazines. So the audience will recognise the genre andif they read that type of magazine then they will purchase the magazine. These are two examples of rock/ metal magazines and I have includedtheir colour schemes they are very similar in colour. 4. My colour scheme in my front cover This is my colour scheme for my music magazine project I used these colours because I thinkthat they are similar to the other music magazines and the magazines target audience wouldrecognise the type of magazine that it is and be curious to pick it up and buy the product. Thecolours themselves are used because I feel that the magazine needs to have somecontrasting colours in it for example the black and white would be good to use for thebackground and the background of the textboxes. This is my front cover that I created formy chosen genre I have taken intoaccount the other magazines that Ireviewed in my colour scheme forexample the colour scheme hascontrasting colours ( the black andwhite). 5. Representing the target audience My magazine I think effectively represents the type of people that readthe magazine because the majority are fans of the metal themed musicthat the magazine offers to its viewers. Also the colour scheme is in themewith the genre as it has a lot of dark colours. For example the blackbackground and the red border around the double page. I think that mostof the readers will wear a similar style of clothing to their favourite bands/singers and with this magazine being in the rock and metal genre theclothes will be dark colours which will be in theme with the magazine. 6. Attracting the target audience The techniques that I used to attract and entice the target audience werethe familiar colour scheme that followed a pattern of other musicmagazines of the same genre. The layout of the main image is also similarto others but with a twist. It has a feature that will make the audienceintrigued to see what it is all about this is a feature that I have not seen onany other rock/metal music magazine. 7. Premises that might sell my magazine The kind of media institution that might distribute the music magazinethat I created would be the newsagents in and around the UK becausethey mainly sell newspapers and magazines with other goods. Also in themodern age the normal shops and supermarkets will sell these kinds ofmagazines to the general population. So the magazine will have lots ofdifferent places to be purchased in by the target audience. This will be amass marketed product. That will be sold to companies that would like tobuy it this could be record shops or bookshops for example because mostbook shops also sell magazines or other reading material. 8. Audience The audience for my magazine would be the type of people who areinterested in rock music and the magazines that it offers, they could be ofboth genders and the age would be late teens (16+) however most peopleover this age could read the music magazine that I have created . Forexample the magazine will be presented in a way that is suitable for thetarget age and they will be able to understand the language that it will usein its information. 9. Advertising methods The methods that I will use to advertise my magazine and promote it willbe the in newsagents in the shop windows and the posters that are in busstops these forms of promotion are cheap and effective and I think thatthe target audience of the magazine will see this because the targetaudience uses these premises where the magazine will be sold in. 10. Techniques that I have learnt I have learnt some techniques in designing the magazine they are mainlyadopting and maintaining a colour scheme that was similar to other musicmagazines in the same genre as mine. This is because the target audiencewould recognise my design of a music magazine and might be tempted topick it up and read it. Also the positioning of the main image on the front cover was animportant technique that I learnt as well because it was a portrait frontcover then the image had to be adjusted this was achieved by making theimage compact and covering on a person in the image up in white with aquestion mark and creating a story behind it. This made the imagenarrower and better suited to the portrait set up. 11. The technology that I have learnt about duringthis project During this media studies project I have used many different softwareprogrammes and internet webpages to create and research my musicmagazine for example the whole project is displayed on a blog programmecalled blogger this allowed the pages of information to be displayed topeople who also have blogger this programmes also allows the users tocomment on other peoples work suggesting improvements or givingpraise to them. Also the main programme that I used to create the musicmagazine project was called fireworks mx 2004 edition. This allowed meto import images and lots of other programmes. Also I used Microsoftpower point 2010 edition. 12. Advancements between prelim task and the music magazine.Prelim Course workFront cover 13. Contents pagePrelim Coursework 14.
