Explore the way in which women are represented

This shot is an establishing shot; it is used to set the scene. The shot shows a rundown house and given the genre of the programme this creates a sense of audience recognition as the setting conforms to the drama genre.

The text and effects are also used to conform to the genre, as the aspect of MI5 become apparent as a scatted signal effect is used to present the text and the font and colour also helps to represent the genre.

This shot shows the women in a dominant role, as the male is looking up at the female, showing a reverse eye-line of what we would conventional expect.

The stance of the woman on the wall also subverts to a Hitchcock view of women as she is taking on a masculine stance.

Again in this shot the female is looking down at the male, the female clothing in this also subverts to what the audience is stereotypically used to as they are wearing leather.

The male in the background is also under the females, as it shows him working for them, and sitting down showing how they are above males.

The lighting in this shot is also used to create a sense of enigma, as the actress’s face is half covered in shadow creating a dark side for the characters.
