Molly Malone (conocida tambin como Cockles and Mussels (Berberechos y Mejillones) o por In Dublin's Fair City (En la Noble Ciudad de Dubln) y (en irlands Mol N Mhaoileoin) es una cancin popular de Irlanda que se ha convertido en el himno no oficial dublins. Tambin ha obtenido el status de himno irlands. Fue compuesta alrededor de 1880 por James Yorkston y se ha convertido en una verdadera leyenda urbana.[1] De manera afectiva y coloquial, suelen llamarla como The tart with the cart (la golfa con el carro).La cancin cuenta la historia de una hermosa pescadera llamada Molly Malone que muri de una fiebre en plena calle. La muchacha iba por las tortuosas calles de la zona portuarioa de Dubln, empujando un carro y pregonando "Mejillones y Berberechos vivitos!!". Sin embargo no existe evidencia de que tal persona existiese en el siglo XVII ni en ningn otro momento. Tpicamente se la representa como una tendera de da y una prostituta de noche.[2]En la Calle Grafton de Dubln, cuenta con una estatua a su memoria. Est ataviada con su vestido y su carro donde venda el marisco. An a da de hoy dicen que trescientos aos despus de su muerte su fantasma se pasea por las calles de Dubln.La Cancin [editar]La afamada cancin es el himno no oficial de Dubln y recrea la historia de este personaje, real o ficticio, del siglo XVII.
