Course Description:
The Methods of Instruction course prepares the participant to teach
the 75 hour Medicaid Nurse Aide Course. The focus of the course is
directed toward teaching the adult learner in the classroom, nursing
laboratory, and clinical settings.
Eligibility for enrollment: To become a program coordinator, must
have BSN with long term experience. To become a course instructor,
must have valid KY LPN or RN nursing license.
Learner Outcomes: Learners will be able to teach principles of
providing nursing aide care
Objectives: Upon completion of this MOI course, the participant will
be able to:
organize the course of study for nurse aides,
develop a lesson plan,
present a lesson,
perform demonstration of psychomotor skill,
organize and manage the learning environment,
meet the needs of the individual learner,
utilize instructional aids, and
evaluate student performance
Instructor:
Patricia Gesin graduated from Indiana University of PA college of
Nursing with a BSN degree in 1972 and received a MSN degree in 1977
from New York University at Buffalo. She taught in associate degree
nursing programs from 1972-1979, where she taught the aging process
and took students to provide care in the long term care setting. She has
experience one on one with the elderly in the home care setting provid-
ing home health assessments and nursing care from 1989 to 2008. Gesin
has taught State Registered Nurse Aide courses at the University of
Kentucky for over 7 years.

tialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

and KBN approval of a continuing nursing education provider does not
constitute endorsement of program content nor commercial sponsors.
This educational activity is offered for a maximum of 16 ANCC and
19.2 KBN contact hours for nurses who complete the entire program.
