RE: Medicare Prescription
Dear Senator Toomey:
As we all know, Medicare will have funding issues in future years so it is important to operate Medicare as cost effectively as possible. However, a current law prevents Medicare from negotiating with drug companies to lower prices. But rather Medicare must purchase drugs at the retail value, even though other groups, including other countries, are able to negotiate lower prices for drugs.
Giving the Secretary of Health and Human Services the authority to negotiate prices for prescription drugs covered by Medicare could potentially save billions of dollars.
I urge you to cosponsor and support S.31, the Medicare Prescription Drug Price Negotiation Act of 2015.
Sincerely yours,
Robert J. Dickson
