MEDIUM VELOCITY NOZZLE

INTRODUCTION

The medium velocity nozzle is a product made by FireProducts AS.

DescriptionThe medium velocity water spray nozzle is an open ( non-automatic) nozzle, designed to produce a solid cone of water. The external deflector plate will discharge a uniform filled cone of medium velocity water droplets.

Color-coding ( option) In an installation the nozzle can be located in many different area, height and locations. After the installation, there would be a challenge to verify that the correct nozzle has been installed. Normally the type numbers are printed on the side of the nozzle, and after installation each nozzle must be inspected to see if the correct types are installed. This can only be done by inspection in close proximity to each nozzle that the correct type number is used. By using color coded nozzles, verification of correct installation will be simplified. The color coding is only for indication. This feature is patent pending by FireProducts.

K-Factor and Spray angle can be identified with color-coding.

Pressure test cap ( option)The nozzle can be equipped with a pressure test cap. After the nozzle has been installed, the complete pipe system can be pressure tested. After successful pressure test, the pressure test cap shall be removed. This feature is patent pending by FireProducts.

The color coding is used to simplify identifying and to make sure that correct nozzle has been used. This version has to be special ordered. This product is patent pending by FireProducts. ULThe following nozzles are UL approved. • Metric flow factor Kv: 23 - 32 -41 -63 • Imperial flow factor Cv : 1.6 - 2.2 - 2.8 - 4.3 -5.4• Discharge Angle, Deg : 60 - 90 - 100 - 120

Installation & MaintenancesThe nozzle must be unpacked and handled carefully to not be damaged before installation.Nozzle which is visibly damaged should not be installed. Use sealant application as requiredaccording to the Nozzle thread designation and use ordinary handbook for correct torque according to di-mensions and material or on-site regulations required by local authorities. The nozzles must be appropriately installed in to the Pipe fitting. If available, we suggest using theFireproducts Nozzle Wrench FP-N-MV1-W to prevent any damage to the coating.Excessive tightening torque may result into serious damage to the nozzle and thedeflector, which may affect spray pattern of the nozzle and its performance if the installa-tion is notpreformed correctly. The Nozzle must not be in any way contaminated with Any form of residue or particles before installation That may cause blockage or damage to the Nozzle. The owner is solely responsible for maintaining the water spray system and the compo-nents so that it performs properly when required.

Recommended working pressure Min. 1,4 Bar // 20 PSI Max 4,1Bar // 60 PSI

Pressure Lid ( option )The pressure lid is designed to be used as an option for pipe systems with requirements for pressure test and inspection, before the system is approved for use. This option is used to prevent extra labor time and save the system installation cost. Without this option the ordinary procedure is to first install a plug with same torque and sealant appliance as the nozzle requires in 3 operations. With the Pressure test lid function the only thing to is to remove the pressure lid after the pressure test has been performed.

Pressure Lid Dis-assemble procedureAfter the dis-assemble procedure the dis-assembled items can be discarded, and the Nozzle is fully operational. With the pressure test lid option, the pipe line for the MV-nozzle can be pressure tested and approved without use of plugs and extra labor work.

After the pressure test of the pipe system all noz-zles MUST have the pressure lid removed accord-ing to this procedure.

Procedure1. The MV nozzle shall be assembled according

to the requirements of the pipe system and appropriate torque for the Nozzle’s thread.

2. Remove the 2 x crews with an Allen wrench. 3. Remote the pressure lid and gasket.
