DR. MEGAN CRAY Needham, MA VMD from the University of Pennsylvania Undergraduate College & Major: New York University; Biology Dr. Cray has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was five, and has always been considered a “crazy cat lady” to her friends. She is excited to learn from all of the renowned veterinarians and staff at The AMC. After her internship, she hopes to pursue a residency in surgery, particularly surgical oncology, and become a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. DR. MARY DEWEESE Memphis, TN DVM from the University of Tennessee Undergraduate College & Major: University of Tennessee; Animal Science Dr. Deweese first became interested in veterinary medicine during a college mission trip to Costa Rica. She loved the multifaceted nature of veterinary medicine and the ability to help both people and animals. After the completion of her internship, Dr. Deweese plans to pursue a surgical residency. DR. Dr. Cray has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was

Dr. Deweese first became interested in veterinary

DR. JOHN GIL Los Angeles, CA DV M from the Virginia-Ma ry la nd College of Veterina ry Medicine Undergraduate College & Major: University of California,

Santa Barbara; Zoology

Dr. Gil initially wanted to attend law school, but he

realized how strong his interest in animal medicine was

after taking a summer job in a veterinary office. Watching

those veterinarians prevent and treat diseases in cats and

dogs inspired him to apply to veterinary school. He plans

to continually expand his skills and knowledge during his

AMC internship and hopes to pursue a residency in either

small animal neurology or internal medicine.

DR. BETSY GOLDEN Scarsdale, NYV MD from the Universit y of Pennsy lva niaUndergraduate College & Major: Cornell University;

Biological Sciences

Dr. Golden took a rather untraditional route into

veterinary school, first managing a core facility at Boston

Children’s Hospital. She believes that the quality of

medicine practiced at The AMC and its full and diverse

caseload are exceptional. She can’t think of any internship

she would trust more in helping her become the clinician

she aspires to be.

DR. JESSICA HIMELMAN Ocean, NJDV M from Ross Universit y Undergraduate College & Major: University of Wisconsin-

Madison; Zoology & Neurobiology

Dr. Himelman is thrilled to be an intern at The AMC

because she believes the hospital provides the best

possible care for animals, with the support of top-

tier doctors and technicians as well as state-of-the-art

equipment and resources. After her internship, she hopes

to pursue a residency in internal medicine, become a

diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal

Medicine, and practice in New York or New Jersey.

DR. CHRISTINA HONG Amherst, NYDV M from Michiga n State Universit y

Undergraduate College & Major: State University of New York

at Binghamton; Biology

Dr. Hong was inspired to become a veterinarian when her

childhood dog was diagnosed with a mast cell tumor, and

she watched the veterinarian work tirelessly to make her

dog’s final days comfortable and fulfilling. She is excited

to be an intern at The AMC because the hospital has

some of the best veterinarians in the world. After her

internship, she hopes to pursue a career as an emergency

and critical care specialist.

DR. BRITTANI JONES Youngstown, OHDVM from The Ohio State University

Undergraduate College & Major: The Ohio State University;

Animal Sciences

Dr. Jones originally studied chemical engineering, but

she was inspired to become a veterinarian after taking

a couple of classes in animal science. During veterinary

school, she fell in love with surgery and emergency

and critical care, which she plans to pursue through a

residency following her internship. The AMC was her top

internship choice because it is the perfect combination of

a high caseload with strong surgery and emergency and

critical care programs.

DR. EDWINA LOVE Westport, CTDVM from Western University of Health Sciences

Undergraduate College & Major: William Smith College;

History and International Relations (double major)

Dr. Love began her career in the fashion industry, but

realized she desired to make an impact on the lives of

animals and their families. She completed an externship

at The AMC, where she found The AMC’s dedication to

education, advancing the field of veterinary medicine,

and helping the community truly inspiring. Her primary

interests currently lie in surgery and oncology, and she

hopes to pursue a residency following her internship.

DR. NATASHA LOY SON Oakville, Ontario DV M from Onta rio Veterina ry College

Undergraduate College & Major: University of Guelph;

Biological Science (Honours)

Dr. Loy Son comes to The AMC from Oakville, Ontario,

where she grew up and attended college. She is looking

forward to her internship at The AMC because she

enjoys working with highly specialized experts who are

committed to providing high-quality medicine through

collaboration and research. She has developed an affinity

for internal medicine and emergency and critical care.

DR. BRIDGET LYONS Philadelphia, PAV MD from the Universit y of Pennsy lva nia

Undergraduate College & Major: Harcum College;

Veterinary Technology, CVT & Bryn Mawr College; Spanish

Dr. Lyons entered the veterinary field as a veterinary

nurse in the ICU at the University of Pennsylvania. She

is proud to have an internship at The AMC because of

the exceptional patient care and the excellent mentorship

the hospital provides. After her internship, she hopes to

pursue a residency in either emergency and critical care

or internal medicine.

DR. KATELYN MACGILLIVRAY

Lanoka Harbor, NJ V MD from the Universit y of Pennsy lva nia

Undergraduate College & Major: The College of New Jersey;

Biology

Dr. MacGillivray dreamed of becoming a veterinarian

since she was in kindergarten and pursued this dream

throughout her entire academic career. She is thrilled

to be an intern at The AMC because of its reputation

as one of the world’s leading veterinary teaching

institutions. She hopes to continue her education after

her internship, and one day become a board-certified

small animal surgeon.

DR. SHANA B. MINTZ Dix Hills, NYDV M from Cor nell Universit yUndergraduate College & Major: Cornell University; Animal Science

Dr. Mintz has always loved animals, but developed her

passion for practicing medicine from her father who loves

his job as a human cardiologist. She believes that her

internship at The AMC will help her reach her goal of being

a veterinary cardiologist. Since she grew up in Queens

and Long Island, she is excited to be back in New York to

embark on this next step in her career.

DR. KATE MORRIS Milton, MADV M from Cor nell Universit yUndergraduate College & Major: Cornell University; Biology, with a minor in Architecture

Dr. Morris believes that The AMC is a great next step to

further her veterinary education due to its high caseload

and impressive doctors who are eager to teach. After

completing her internship, she hopes to pursue further

training in a small animal surgery residency program.

DR. MARY PFEIFER Bethesda, MDDVM from Virginia-Maryland College of veterinary medicine Undergraduate College & Major: University of Maryland; Animal Science

Dr. Pfeifer has dreamed of becoming a veterinarian since

reading All Creatures Great and Small at the age of 12. She

also dreamed of living in New York City, so she is thrilled to

fulfill both dreams during her internship at The AMC. After her

internship, she hopes to specialize in emergency medicine.

DR. CHRISTINA ROMERO New York, NYDV M from Ross Universit y Undergraduate College & Major: Cornell University; Animal Science

Dr. Romero was driven to be an intern at The AMC because

she feels that The AMC provides the best diagnostics and

mentorship in veterinary specialties in the country. After her

internship, she would like to join a private general practice

in New York City and practice either shelter medicine or

clinical pathology and emergency medicine.

DR. BRETT SHORENSTEIN New York, NYV MD from the Universit y of Pennsy lva nia Undergraduate College & Major: New York University;

Finance and Management

Dr. Shorenstein spent four summers volunteering at

The AMC, where he saw firsthand clinicians who are

at the pinnacle of their respective fields. After his

internship, Brett is considering residencies in either

medicine or surgery, as well as owning and operating

a general practice.

DR. ABBY THOMSON St. Louis, MODV M from Wa shington State Universit yUndergraduate College & Major:

University of Missouri-Columbia (Mizzou); English

Dr. Thomson has always known that entering the

veterinary field would perfectly complement her passion

for animals and connecting with people, with the

challenge of medicine. Her specific veterinary interests

are in emergency and internal medicine, and she plans to

embark on residency training in one or both fields upon

completion of her AMC internship. Ultimately, she hopes

to practice as a boarded clinician in Manhattan.

DR. HARRY WEATHERSON

Johannesburg, South AfricaDVM from the Royal Veterinary College of LondonUndergraduate College & Major: Hazelwick Sixth Form

Technology College; A-Levels

Dr. Weatherson wanted to become a veterinarian

because of his love for animals, but also because it is a

compassionate, challenging, and rewarding profession,

with incredible people dedicated to what they do. He

believes that this internship will offer the next career

challenge, allowing him to practice veterinary medicine

at a higher level. Post-internship, he would like to work

within a specialty facility concentrating on emergency

medicine.

DR. MAX WHITE

Fredericton, New BrunswickDVM from Atlantic Veterinary College-UPEI Undergraduate College & Major: University of New

Brunswick; Biology (Honours)

Dr. White developed an interest in veterinary medicine

after volunteering at a small local animal clinic during his

undergraduate career. He is excited to have a change

of pace in New York City. His interest lies in veterinary

cardiology, and he hopes to have the opportunity to

explore that interest in more detail after his internship at

The AMC.

DR. SPENCER YEH Cupertino, CADV M from the Universit y of Ca lifor nia , Dav isUndergraduate College & Major: University of California,

Berkeley; Molecular and Cellular Biology

Dr. Yeh has a profound interest in interventional radiology,

and he believes The AMC has the best interventional

radiology program in the nation. After his internship, he

hopes to accept a residency in small animal surgery and

continue his education in interventional radiology.

DR. BUSHRA ZAIDI New York, NYDV M from Tuf ts Universit y Undergraduate College & Major: CUNY Hunter College;

Medical Laboratory Science

Dr. Zaidi developed her interest in veterinary medicine

when she worked with veterinarians at Columbia

University Medical Center every day for nearly two years,

but her career choice was solidified after she spent time

volunteering at an animal hospital. She is excited to

be an intern at The AMC because it is one of the best

hospitals in the country to train for a small animal rotating

internship, with a wide array of mentorship from different

specialists. At the end of her internship, she hopes to

be a well-rounded clinician in order to transition into a

residency in oncology.
